How Do I Get Foxtel Installed in My Unit

I live in a large Docklands apartment block. Foxtel have told me they cannot install into my unit. There are already numerous units that are connected to Foxtel in this building and the building manager says he sees no reason for me not to be connected. I was with Austar / Foxtel for 15 years and have now disconnected since moving to Victoria because of this. I have made dozens of calls to both Foxtel and Telstra asking for a reason and have had no answers. I was hoping now being a new subscriber I might have more luck, but this hasn't been the case. The ombudsman site says that they do not deal with lack of service. Yes I do have a club membership for live games. Please help as I also want to watch AFL live football on my television and see no way of doing this.

All you have to say to Foxtel is "shut up and take my money!".

They had no problem taking my money.. It was the service they would not give me

It sounds pretty stupid to me. My best guess is because it is an apartment they won't automatically come and install it or some other BS excuse. Having said that I just tried my address in their address tracker and it said they needed to do "further checks" yet I have a foxtel box in my living room and it took them 10 minutes to install it…

Can you get foxtel playfor the moment on your TV via the internet?

Try and get in writing exactly what the issue is and speak with the building manager.

Have a chat to your neighbours if they have foxtel and ask what they had to do to get it?

  • Thank you for the reply, yes i already have phone and Internet connected and currently using Netflix. Installing Foxtel play would work but they don't allow you to stream AFL to the TV.

Get a cheap android device that can connect to your tv, then get the AFL live app for it. I would avoid foxtel at all costs if you can, their business model is unsustainable in the current market. If your with telstra you may get the app for free. Alternatively you might be able to hook your laptop up to your tv and login through there.

I appreciate your response although AFL live streaming cannot be done on television in 2016 season. I would appreciate if it was possible for someone to give instructions on how to achieve this. If I could avoid Foxtel believe me I would

If you get one of these devices it will be no problem with the app and your tv. If you have a laptop just hook your laptop up to your tv, get the trial and test it out.

      • If not look into kodi/tv addons there is so many sports streaming options you could probably choose from at least 10 sources per game.

  • Again thank you for your help. Connecting live app via laptop to tv doesn't work. It restricts picture size. All the info I have read tells me this is not possible in the 2016 AFL season. Would appreciate if anyone that done it last season can actually confirm they have done this season. I looked into your Kodi/tv option and again I believe this will not work either this season. I can't connect through Xbox either. I guess I will try on game day to see if I can stream then.

you can live stream them through the addons sportsdevil, castaway and numerous others. there is a repository called catch up tv au where you can view them after the fact.

install it on your pc and try it out. if you install the fusion addon on kodi it will set it all up automatically. also have a look at an addon called exodus (this makes foxtel obsolete) and make sure you install plexus. premiumize.me and trakt.tv is also recommended if you like exodus.

  • Ok will give it a try. Thank you for all your help

    • I just logged into the afl app on my tv with the free telstra deal and it is all working no problem. I have a android tv box hooked up to my tv. Android TV boxes are usually read as a tablet or mobile.

Its hard to say the reason without seeing the apartment, did a tech come out and access the site? Did they give you a reason? If you are not happy with what the tech found to be the issue, you can try to see if they will have a supervisor come out and do a site survey be sure yes or no.
Apartment blocks can be where it gets tricky. Give it another shot, if still no get the tech to have their supervisor attend the site.

  • I have tried Foxtel and Telstra to send me a tech to no avail. They will not escalate to a tech because there system says it can't be installed. As I said it has been on at this unit and I have a previous account which clearly shows it was on. As for getting the reason why it can't be installed I am told it's not available at my unit. They told me privacy laws stop them checking previous accounts. I am resigned to walking down to my local for any games I really need to see on TV. Like the first comment to my thread said, better of without them. Thank you for you response.

Find out from your Building Manager or the people who already had Foxtel, whether there's a different address used/ listed for your Unit.

Next find a tech from local paper. They might lead you to a subcontractor of Foxtel.

In our apartment, we were told only the top floor gets the IQ thing, but still get Foxtel no problem.

Have you considered the T-box from telstra?

  • Yes and thank you for your help. With the TBox you get to watch one game live each round which is normally Saturday twighlight and with my membership not worth the cost. Also I only want the football the other stuff is crap

  • Have connected an android tablet from micro USB to TV HDMI and picture is same size as my TV. Although picture quality is not real great will do me. Keep your $50 per month Foxtel. Thank you for everyone who helped or contributed to my first post.
