Rather spend the money on a Chinese Tablet with 10x the performance of this rubbish.

Prices are close enough though they have most weekly sales that will drop another 10% or more. The Samsung Tab 3 Lite is a PoS to say the least. Not even quad core, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (2.5GB usable) and the resolution is atrocious.

Wow 2.5gb usable is quite lame, why do they even bother?

Someone told me if you use a memory card and download an app, you can save apps onto the memory card and not just media.
          Or Is that BS?

        • @Hirolol: you can App2SD. But you cannot do it for every app since some NEED to be on the internal storage. You'd be lucky to install anything more than 15 apps on this device before you run out of space.

    • Do you have a link to one of these better deals?

Really depends in who it's for. The Chinese tablets always have various software problems and sometimes aren't the best build quality. This (I assume) would have Samsung's usual Android suit with Samsung's decent build quality.

Overall, still personally would prefer a higher specced Chinese tablet. The lower build quality isn't the worst thing ever and the OS problems can be fixed by rooting the device and using a custom ROM. Still, that takes time, effort and knowledge - something not everyone has.

      • Seriously.. you've never used one of these. My first Gen Galaxy Tab from six years ago would beat this PoS in performance.

        • It's $118, includes local support/warranty, the build quality is much better, operating system optimizations is better out of the box, etc.

As an example, this is something I'd buy as a gift for my mother. She'd only really use a tablet for browsing Facebook and/or websites, the extra processing power wouldn't be needed. In that situation the build quality, local support and Samsung's Android suit are all massive advantages. Other than that, in most other situations I'd personally go with a Chinese tablet around a similar price.

Edit; in other words, if the intended user is fine dealing with custom ROMs and needs the extra performance, yeah a cheap Chinese one is better. If they need ease-of-use and local support, this would still be better.

        • @dyl:Don't get this for your mum. 2 years ago, someone gave this to my 62 YO mum. She keeps complaining about lag when browsing between websites. I had to buy her a new tablet. It really is a piece of crap. So slow and frustrating

        • @Cronut: Isn't two years ago is already two generations of this tablet?

        • @Cronut:
Oh wow.. Did you check she hadn't installed too many apps or anything? It should usually be enough to work for browsing and stuff, it's a 1.3Ghz quadcore. My Nexus 4 was flawless with a 1.5Ghz quad core for comparison.

(Note this is the VE model when looking up specifications as it's listed as having a quad core, not a dual core like the original)

  • Pity you missed the $69 deal yesterday if you were really after one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/237135

Not sure which one is better but the Lenovo has the same resolution and is 8gb also -
    Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20 7" Tablet $98.00.
    Officeworks has it for $97.00

    • The Lenevo is better from what I have read.

  • Get the Lenovo it has sd card slot.
