  • Shit's expensive!

    Tl;dr version: Shit's REALLY expensive!

    • If free = expensive, then you are perhaps correct

Apart from that, thank you for your thought-provoking and intelligent comment :)

      • +3

I mean in relation to the property market not the deal, or at least that's what the property experts would tell you if they are being honest. On a median house price to earnings ratio compared globally they are unsustainably high.

The deal's free of course it's not expensive! :)

"Dr Andrew Wilson is Australia’s leading housing market expert. As senior economist for Fairfax-owned Domain Group…"

If this bloke is ever not bullish on property I'll eat my hat

  • What are they selling?

  • Surprised at the negativity/skepticism here, free 8 hour seminar for you and a friend. You would only need to learn 2-3 new concepts that you didn't know before to make it worth your while.. It's free, what have you got to lose? Michael Yardney and Metropole say ALL THE TIME in his videos/podcasts that Metrpole don't own any properties so they have nothing to sell. I'm sure the free deal is simply to get bums on seats in order to make the venue appear more full for the paying customers and also increase their chances of obtaining paying customers from those with free tickets if they believe that Metropole can provide added value to their overall property strategy. In any case, I'll be attending this Saturday to check it out with an open mindset, I'll report back afterwards and give an update on whether it was worth it or not :)

On the website there is a 10-15 minute extract from their 2013 property seminar for those who are sitting on the fence.

    • So I attended, it was OK and a long day going from 9am to 5:45pm or so. They didn't try and sell any property or anything like that but they did try to sell/promote the "wealth retreat" which is a 5 day event on the gold coast later this year with a bunch of "wealthy" guest speakers etc, it seemed to be a joint venture with accountants/wealth creation experts Chan & Naylor, who spoke for the final 90 minutes regarding taxes, setting up properties in trusts and focusing on structuring your portfolio the right away, and also to pass property down to children without getting stung on additional stamp duties and capital gains tax etc. Michael also tried to sell/promote his exclusive one-to-one mentoring program as well.

So no selling of properties but a bunch of other things and some joint venture partnerships going on too. Andrew Wilson from Domain was fairly reasonable and showed alot of trends, and showed what has been happening over the last 5-10 years, backing up his statements with graphs and tables, he wasn't extremely bullish or unreasonable in his comments and more or less said that the Sydney market in particular is going to take a breather and slightly correct in 2016 (but most people are saying this so it wasn't a newsflash).

Everyone who attended got a free copy of his book What Every "Property Investor Needs To Know About Finance, Tax and the Law" RRP about $30 and 4 CD's/audiobooks (descriptions outlined above in the original post), so that was a nice touch. All in all, I only learned 5-10% of things they were talking about, as I'm reasonably competent with property investment lingo / strategies, but it would be a very beneficial session for a beginner investor, those who are interested in investment and standard mum and dad investors who might not have the time to read a lot of books on property, listen to podcasts and read articles online blogs etc
