  • Really want one of these but its hard justifying the price. Might need to just stick with getting one of these instead. Sigh

    • Same. I was looking at cheap alternatives also myself, to save a buck. Xiaomi and Bluedio both make cheap BT speakers, which can be bought from eBay and other online sites. I didn't take the risk so can't comment on how good they are. Instead, I decided to just bite the bullet and get one of these. I've heard the UE Boom and they sound great, imo, so I don't think I can go wrong.

Fun fact: Woolworths sell a BT speaker for $7. They sound like what you'd expect $7 would get you, if not worse, haha.

When the UE Boom 1 used be priced at ~$100, they were great buys. I don't really see a big upgrade in these to justify the higher prices.

Anyway, a good deal considering this is one of the cheaper prices if you really do want to buy it.

  • Anyone have experiences with the white ones? Wondering how dirty that mesh can get, and whether you can easily scrub them down..

    • +1

I bought the white one, I was worried about it getting dirty too, so I did a few searches online. I found a few reviews of the UE Boom 1 where people discussed the white colour and getting dirty.

From what people are saying, it sounds like scuff marks and scratches are more visible on the black one. The white one does get dirty after use (brown marks from handling it with dirty/greasy hands), but it can be easily cleaned with alcohol wipes. Some other reviewers said to totally avoid the white one, as it gets dirty easily when stored in a bag.

You can make up your own mind, but I went for the white one. If it gets dirty, then i'll clean it with alcohol wipes.

Here are what some Amazon reviewers were saying:

I got the white/blue despite being worried about the rubber becoming dirty. The Best Buy display model was pretty grimy but they said clorox wipes clean it right up. Magic erasers I'm sure work great if really need be.

At first I purchased the black model, but noticed fresh out the box it had a few cosmetic scratches. very noticeable, especially if you are OCD like me. if it had that many scratches fresh out the box, I worried about how many scratches could accumulate after long term use. I'm not sure if this is common, but something to consider if you were thinking about going with black. so I went with the white/red model. no cosmetic scratches or dings at all fresh out of the box. (which is expected from any new device, but didn't work out for me with the black colorway) may potentially be more prone to dirt/oil or whatever with the white model. but if you get it on the white portion of the device, you can easily clean it with an alcohol wipe.

Might get dirty - purely aesthetic, but if you buy the lighter colored BOOMs, they might get noticably dirty quick. (avoid the white one)

I bought the white color and am being very careful with not getting it dirty. Hopefully if it does get dirty, that it'll be easy to clean! I don't usually use speakers so I'm not sure how much use I'll be getting out of this. But so far, it seems great.

The only "negative" id say is that id advise against any of the white colors, just because the durable material its made of gets noticably dirty after a while from sitting it on the ground, in and out of bags/etc, so id just recommend getting a darker color, if that sort of thing would bother you.

        Thank you!

Why didn't I think of Amazon…my Google-fu is off today.

It's actually not for me, which makes the decision a bit harder. Thinkn I'll go with the white "yeti" too.

        Thanks again!

        • No worries! :)

  • Thanks to mudkipz for sharing this deal. This is a great price, and I was just looking to buy one. Cheers!
