When Should I Get an iPhone Plan? Should I wait till the Samsung S7 is out?

Hi everyone, I haven't paid attention to when the Aussie Telco's release new phone plans and cheaper deals so I wanted to know your opinion. I was wanting to get an iPhone 6s (on plan) and was hoping the release of the Samsung s7 would mean the Telco's would release new and cheaper iPhone deals given the s7 would be getting all the new buyers (as well as making the iPhone a generation older). Do you remember the impact of what the Samsung S6 do to the iPhone plans? Did the telcos release new iPhone plans to try compete?

Anyway, basically wanting to advice is it worth waiting a couple weeks while the s7 is coming out before jumping in a iPhone plan.

Thanks in advance!

  • Should get s6 instead.

Why don't you just buy a 6s through Gumtree outright? It is a LOT cheaper to buy a phone outright than on a plan.

That's not really how it works. iPhones are remarkably good at holding their value, because Apple doesn't allow significant discounts over RRP.

This guy is right, but most people don't sell their phones.

Who cares what holds better value. That really shouldn't factor into your decision if you actually care about the hardware and software of a phone.

      • No, I mean that new handsets hold their value because apple does not allow discounts to RRP, which is why you almost never see changes to iPhone plans until the newer model is released.

hoping the release of the <latest Android phone> would mean the Telco's would release new and cheaper iPhone deals

    I don't think it's ever the case.

    That won't happen.

They will only lower the price in case the new iphone comes out (iPhone 7).

The release of a new iphone doesn't do anything to Android prices, vice-versa.

Do you want to use iOS or Android? If you have disposable cash then don't listen to any of these bargain people and just buy the s7, because it is the superior phone in every single way.
