Chest of Drawers - Good Value & Quality Recommendations

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my current chest of drawers/ tallboys in the house from the ikea ones I have (remnants of my uni days). These ikea ones (malm I think) have seen better days, as they don't open fully and are abit wobbly (probably due to my lacklustre construction skills & being moved a few times).

I've been looking at getting it for my toddler's room and was considering the borri branded baby furniture second hand from gumtree.

I was wondering which brands offer a sturdy quality set of drawers which will last, but at decent value, and would appreciate any advice/recommendations please.

thanks!

Freedom are generally better quality, but if you can wait for a 30% off sale as these come up fairly often.

    • Yup. I often see sales at my local Freedom. Just wondering how much better their quality is to justify the price differential.
In general, I personally find that any item from ikea that moves (ie. a hinge, drawer, etc) will wear out within a year. Which, I suppose, is fair for the price. How long has your Freedom furniture lasted you?

Depends on the item. Hinges are always an issue. I couldn't say for sure, but I find Freedom stuff is generally better and usually easier to put together.

You don't need to get a brand new one. Have a look around at second hand antique shops in your area. You can find some really nice pieces of furniture for great prices.

    • I've been keeping my eye out on gumtree.
The missus like clean and modern styled furniture, so it's a bit more difficult for me to get antique pieces.
