Bali to Australia departure tax--included in plane tickets (Jetstar)?

We are planning to go to Bali in August this year, last time we went was about 2 years ago and we needed to pay departure tax in Bali airport.

However when I searched it on Google, it stated that the tax is now included in the plane tickets (since Feb 2015). Just wondering if there is anyone who have been to Bali recently and did you need to pay for departure tax in the airport still?

We are planning to fly with Jetstar and I am not sure if there is a difference between airlines…. I would just like to know in advance so I can prepare enough cash to pay for it.

Thanks!

    No, you don't pay departure tax at Bali or Denpasar airport anymore. Your ticket includes those charges.

  • But still the $35US visa on arrival

  • Came back from Bali yesterday (I hope that's recent enough!) and departure tax was included in the ticket.

    • If you don't mind me asking… did you come back by Jetstar? I was told by a friend that only Virgin includes departure tax in the ticket….

        No all airline now includes it as above its only the arrival tax of $35 us ($57 au last week) that's if you are Australian many others including UK and NZ don't pay arrival tax

        • Technically not 'arrival tax' but the cost of a visa on arrival…
          Yes, only Australia, Brazil, Libya and Andorra still pay for the VOA.
          Work that out.

          @BigTed:

          Seems Indonesia isn't happy with our visa process.

          Indonesia Institute president Ross Taylor said this was a golden opportunity for the Australian government to drop its onerous requirement for Indonesian visitors to pay a $130 visa application fee and fill out up to 15 pages.

          @JohJoh:
          I truly wish it was as simple as this.
          As I said above - there are only four countries now that have to use the VOA process when entering Indonesia.
          In spite of that MANY countries who now get free entry into Indonesia have expensive and complex arrangements for Indonesians entering their countries - not just Australia. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Indonesi…
          If it were as simple as 'We won't make you pay if you don't make us pay' then there would be a LOT more countries on the VOA list.
          The fact is that Indonesia is sending a message here.
          Singapore and Malaysia send many more people to Indonesia than we do = but they are free.
          Canada is on the free entry list but charges C$100 for a visa for Indonesians. And that doesn't include the security clearance.
          It is about politics, not principle.

        Sorry for hijacking, I did come back via Jetstar in last October and nothing extra charged.

        I came back on Sunday and it is definitely included in the ticket by all airlines. The counter where you used to pay it now sits empty and is not staffed.

  • I thought Jetstar always included the airport taxes in their tickets?
    Never paid extra when I flew with Jetstar.
