Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Vs Note Edge

Hi, I was looking at the Ebay 20% deal, I have interest on Galaxy Note 4. I suddenly realized that Note Edge is actually cheaper by 30$. I know that Note Edge used to be 150$ more compare to Note 4. So looking at the current price now, which one should I buy?

Is the user experience on Note Edge better than Note 4? Is it worth sacrificing a bit of the battery life on Note 4(3220mah vs 3000mah)?

Anyone ever used note edge?

  • link? kogan?

    • Yes, Ebay Kogan. 554$ for Note 4 and 530$ for Note Edge.

      • i knew about the note 4 at that price but a year ago when they first released, TGG had a special sale and i bought one at just $600-650, used it for a week then sold at $5 profit and then bought second hand Note 3.
(reason, at that time cant root it so it is useless)
wanting to upgrade but after one year i was expecting note 4 to be less than $450 so i passed.

  • Pretty sure the Note 4 is fairing better with update support, so I'd be going with that one. The Edge doesn't add that much at all, IMO.

  • Have the edge and love it, edge is useful actually as I thought it was a gimmick

Cons - weird to hold, still!

Not easy to get a screen protector that goes over the edge

The big original Samsung case is fine but adds bulk, so mine is coverless and without protector which is not great….

Mine is also a bit slow but not sure against note 4 normal version etc.

Just my 2c worth for you all.

    • How's the battery life? Can you tell me how long is your screen on time and battery usage?

      • Not sure if there is a better way to tell you technically? But in short I previously had an iPhone 5S and I'd say it's on par.

Nothing flash, with heavy use I'll need a charge same day, with moderate use it will last the day. Mostly the brightness is set to low and I don't do video, mainly calls, email push and basic but not much Web.

I am yet to be convinced by third party apps that sit there apparently optimising battery and app usage like clean master on android, didn't ever have this on iPhone (didn't know of it? So do I really need this? Why does it not do it itself!?!) - I don't see a real difference to be honest.

        Hope this helps…

Oh and you need to turn off all the bloat ware type stuff and optimise the Note (whichever one) for performance as it has all sorts of stuff out of the box, like waiting for a voice command which slows down the switch between apps etc noticeably (again why!) and kills battery even more. Plus the effects and transitions which are all set out of the developer mode.

After all that it behaves like the iPhone 5S did out of the box :) so there in is the punch line…aka selling points of both, Apple out of the box, Android keep tweaking and have more control. Not convinced with either yet TBH. So on the fence.

  • Note 4 edge is just weird with its one sided edge glass.

I'd buy the regular Note 4.

Although inhate edge phones, if S7 edge would be cheaper than the regular one, ID take the edge then. Curved on both sides is still OK to my eyes. But if not would be expensive then no way ;)

  • Is the kogan one going to be okay for optus? I was looking at their LG G4 but it misses two key bands.
