Elephone P9000 US $219 Free DHL Pre-Order 4GB/32GB Sony IMX258 Camera

30

Is it just me or is this a heck of a lot of phone for a very little price. Get the P9000 for the price of a P9000lite. Free DHL is good too. It's pre-order although some have shipped already. The camera seems to have great reviews - especially for low light (less blurry shots). Differing websites show different bands some also show TDD-LTE: B38/B40.

    Elephone never again.
    Xiaomi all the way.

Agreed, tried the Ulefone and had issue after 3 months. I now have Xiaomi and love it.

Ulefone and elephone are two different brands

I've had mixed results…I'd consider buying one again because my wife and I have both had Elephones (p6000 and p8000) which have lasted ~1 year… (clarification: one is completely dead - p8000, the p6000 is still going strong…but they've completely abandoned it in terms of support)
I know that's pretty terrible…but at the same time, I used to buy flagship phones at about ~$800…
That said, I'll probably not buy another Elephone again even if I can have 4-5 of them before it scratches the cost of the Samsung phones or about 50 of them before it gets near the cost of an iPhone.

Depends on how you want to look at it I suppose.

So, would you buy again or not?

So, would you buy again or not?

Yeah that wasn't very clear. I'd consider buying one (depending on what's available when I need to change next, if there's reviews, what the specs are and so forth)…but most likely wouldn't end up actually purchasing another Elephone.

Edit: I think the same issues will happen across most of the cheaper Chinese manufacturers…quality can vary a lot from model to model, and even within the same model…so it's a bit of a pot luck I think.

My USB port failed after a week on my Redmi Note 4G.

Few months later I fastboot flashed an update and it wiped my IMEI, making it useless.

      Xiaomi never again.

I've owned 4 xiaomi phones. Best value ever. None ever failed. I have had LG and Motorola and Samsung fail so, it's really subjective. Plus, we are here to discuss the p9000 which offers a lot of phone for a little price (1/4 the price of the s7)

    • +2

      I agree.

Bought the Elephone p8000. It has so much spyware/adware on it, it's just not worth the hassle.

The specs look good, but for all the extra crap bundled in, it's not worth it.

      • Can you enlighten us as to what "spyware/adware" was installed?

Ex Elephone P7000 user. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!! The touch screen failed after 5 months and the ROM support was crap (that's the polite version)

Brought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and even though it doesn't have fingerprint scanner and 2Gb vs 3Gb but I suspect my Xiaomi will last a lot longer than the Elephone for half the price - the MTK X10 of the Xiaomi more than makes up for the speed of the MTK6752.

Anyone wanting a P7000 for parts (except screen!!!), PM me.

    • Does the Xiaomi come with an assisted reading app?

thats the problem with chinese phone, they show off fabulously amazing high tech specifications, photos and low price, but performance cant beat proper brand in reality.

XiaoMi belong to this category too, the previous two posts contradict your comment

      • i didnt mean xiaomi lenovo huawei but more smaller one like that elephant phones:)

        • actually XiaoMi is also problematic, we just dont know the % of failing
I'd trust Huawei bought in OZ, I wont touch XiaoMi & Lenovo by the sound of it.
I only buy LG now, cheaper than other big names, software is bit behind, but quality isn't bad, however, my G2 seems to have booting up trouble from time to time after a year…

        • +1

Yep these chinese branded phones are often junk, and some have been found to have spyware built in…. People get sucked in by the impressive looking specs but really on the whole these phones are trash

  • Tried an Elephone G2 before, build quality just wasn't in it…

Although I did recently buy a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 32GB Prime (bit of a mouthful) for reasons known to myself, still waiting for it to be delivered.

Don't forget to check your phones on Kimovil first!

actually I agree with the comment by eisniwire - just because the specs look good on paper and they are cheap, if you don't get 2-3 years solid performance from them you are wasting your money

friends ulefone (not elephone) worked for about 2 months if that, even then while it was working, the supposed 3000+ mAh battery didn't even last a day
    total rubbish

so you think you are getting a phone with top specs for cheap but then you have to get another phone anyway

plus you cant find many (if any) reviews online before you buy it

decent phones like the oneplus one and oneplus X around for less than $400 are proven performers

or older phones like the G3 or nexus 5 can still be had

    just look around

ps. good luck getting some of them fixed/replaced from China, this can also be an issue

    • +1

yup. i feel the best bang for the buck is well known brand but good condition secondhand.
dont worry about software update, just root them and put one of the less bugs custom rom.
i still hard to find reason to upgrade from my note 3, bought second hand a year ago
well apart of i want to have better camera quality maybe

      • +2

Make sure to buy phones with removable batteries too, that means you can purchase a new battery and just replace it yourself.

      • +1

Sounds like a s/h note 4 or LG G4 might be your next phone then. Both have a great camera.

        • yup. and i cant use phone less than 5.5" anymore. actually almost got sony z ultra but camera is bad.
also tried lg g pro 2 but no custom rom so sold it again

        • @eisniwre: The camera on this model is what interested me. My lenovo has an awful camera and way too many cracks in the screen. I think I will get an LG G4 from kogan as they seem the 'best' of the grey sellers. The ebay 20% deal makes it pretty good and I have some form a usable warranty.

        • @eisniwre:
when I flashed my lg g pro 2 last month to official lolly pop 5.0.1, I'm sure I saw custom ROM, the official rom is pretty ok
I like the pro2, paid $400 for a 16GB 18 months ago - still going strong; bought a 32GB for $200 last month, not bad for a FHD 5'9" quad core with 3GB RAM, good camera too, no point buy a Mi Note or similar

        • @Jamesx: why you have two? that price for 32gb is a steal :D
i thought LG locked its bootloaders.. hmm maybe not anymore.

    my 2cents:

I had the Elephone P7000 which was their 2015 "Flagship Phone" till about 2 months later they released the P8000 which, on paper, bested the P7000 in every way.

Software support is pretty poor and it'll come with a half baked ROM with false promises of 10 or 20 custom ROMs to be supplied at an undisclosed date.

Whilst the phone was cheap and on-paper specs good, the camera was absolute rubbish (even though it was using a supposedly good Sony IMX sensor and some 6 element lens with a f2.0 aperture). I think a lot of the camera specs were marketing hype as the performance in anything other than bright sunlight was pretty poor.

    • thanks for the honest review - did you get good screen time - a lot of these phones have poor battery life

      • Yeah battery life was decent. Think you could get 4-5 hours of screen time

Performance was snappy but software and camera was dodgy.

  • +1

These guys have good specs but build quality just isn't there for me. I have tried the P8000 and had giant black bands around the screen also felt flimsy.

For now the only Chinese brands that I think make good build phones are Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO and Lenovo. I would stick to these if you want quality.

Also, never fall into the pre-order trap. By the time you get your phone the price is dropped quite a bit.
