Need for Speed PC - Standard Edition: $39.99 USD (A $53.60) VPN/Hola Required via Origin

110

Haven't seen any deals on this and I'm not sure if this is considered a "bargain", but it's just above half the price the Origin Australia store wants you to pay ($99.99 AUD).

Hola is generally recommended as a quick VPN however be aware of the risks http://adios-hola.org/. Anyway, just boot up your VPN of choice, set it to Mexico, and follow the link provided. Log into your account and pay.

There was a deal a month ago (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/235991) using the Russian website, but according to users it's only in Russian language, so this is the next best thing.

Here's a screenshot of the page.

The deluxe edition is also available for $44.99 USD which is $60 AUD.

Game is released tomorrow in Australia so rev up those engines.

Yet another always online, requires internet connection for single player… becoming a bad trend.

You would think they would learn after Sim City 2013.

  • Do we need to use the vpn every time we play? Or is that just a once off to get the game initially.

      Just to buy the game.

Only steam region locks like that(as far as I know)

So, uh, what's the general consensus here? Is NFS good or bad? I believe I read that EA has graced the godly PC Master Race with an outstanding 60fps… but what about the game lol. Is it worthy of a 2010 racing title?

    • Im a fan of underground so I'll get it even though I've heard mixed reviews. If I don't like it, can just ask for a refund.

    • I personally haven't played a NFS past Most Wanted 2005.

The reviews for this game aren't exactly promising http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-one/need-for-speed/user-….

I think I'll bite the bullet and find out since I haven't played a good PC racing game since Dirt 3.

      • I truly would love to play a really good Need for Speed game… but EA wants $100 just for that privilege, so, even with dodgy deals or cheaper methods, its still a massive no-go for me

          How bout matrix online?

Take advantage of the "great game guarantee" and try it, then return if it sucks.

Or, purchase EA Access for $7 and play it (NFS) for 10 hours.

Thats what I did, and I reckon it's an OK NFS, but cops are too easy, customisation menu is clunky, otherwise its pretty and reasonably fun.

If you picked up NFS Most Wanted for free on Origin, play that for a day or two. If the graphics are too old… time to open the wallet.

According to reviews, always night, always wet, always automatic, always online.

      Says it all really.

      • The PC versions selling features are "you can set the resolution to 4K and we are adding manual transmission to the game"

Microsoft are bringing a free version of Forza to Windows 10 called Forza Apex which sounds great and a fair bit of content for free but for some reason they have announced it won't support steering wheels.

I think the best bet for PC racing at the moment is Assetto Corsa for more serious racing or Dirt Rally for good old fashioned fun driving :)

Can i be that guy who says to not use Hola? And if you are using it uninstall it. the company that develops it was/still is using malicious ways to generate revenue by selling your bandwidth.

    • I mentioned this in my description.

I use PIA as my VPN. Bit expensive, but the speeds seem to be worth it.

    • If i can be the guy to plug TunnelBear and Vypr

  • Going to play the underground 1 soundtrack in the background instead of the games music.

  • Hey all. So just to clarify do you
    1. Connect to mexico via VPN
    2. go through website
    3. Pay by PayPal
    4. Go to checkout
    5. Checkout whilst VPN is on? (either on or off) gives no profit:(

    Ideas?

Are we supposed to purchase with Mastercard instead?

    • Paypal should work. Is the price coming up as $39.99 USD when you visit the store page?

      • Interesting. I tried this the other day but with Dragon Age: Inquisition and got as far as PayPal but from what I could tell I needed a Pay Pal account with a Mexican address? So it rejected mine as soon as I logged into PayPal and tried to charge me in $AUS.

Do I need to setup a new PayPal or can I manually change my address. Or can I just use a Visa card and it will still charge in $US?

  • Greenman gaming has it for 48$

  • Putting my $0.02 here and in the other thread.
Bought a couple of hours ago from Origin store.
    Installed.
Crashed after changing video settings… didn't the second time - cool.
Twice when I was driving in a race the road 'ran out', and my car fell to the center of earth.
Final straw was being booted after it "Lost connection" with the server.
    Refund was automatically approved.
