Quick Charging Charger

Hey Guys,

Just some questions on Quick Charging. I recently bought a Xiaomi powerbank that supports QC 2.0. (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/236407?page=1#comment). From my understanding QC is done through socket charging rather than USB and you can get QC adapters to plug your USB cable into. My question is do you need a QC certified/branded adapter to use with this or can you use the standard say Samsung one you get with your phone?

Also can anyone point me in the direction of a cheap one as I will need another.

Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charge voltage is 5V/9V while Qualcomm's QC 2.0 is 5V/9V/12V and the power bank supports 5V/9V/12V. So the Samsung charger will work, but the QC 2.0 charger is faster.

As for using a certified/branded adapter, yes you should use one. Anyone can use the QC technology in their chargers, but they have to meet criteria from UL and Qualcomm to be certified. If they're not certified then they're not allowed to use the QC logo and don't meet their standards and safety requirements.

This is an example of UL certification.

I'll have a very good deal on the QC 5 port charger tomorrow if you're interested.

  • Hi Clear,

Thanks for the response, certainly shinning a bright light for your company on OzB (for me at least).

So how fast the charger works is based off the voltage output not necessarily the ampage? Or as the voltage goes up the amps follow suit?

Also would you have any single/dual port chargers? I don't have enough devices to fill the 5 haha.

    • This will explain it better than me trying to summarise it.

I'm not going to have any 1/2 port chargers on sale as they don't have AU plugs. This is what it will be. Only 1 port is QC 2.0.
