  • Hi,

I signed. (Thanks for sharing the details).

Making cuts to this scheme when Children spend a great deal of their time at school and learning about health is short-sighted and will cost more in the longer term.

Honestly, this Federal Government lost the last fight with the Medical Doctors, so now they want to pick a fight with Dentists and the ADA via the Children and their Parents.

Bring back the $7 co-payment scheme (for people earning over $20,000) and use some of the revenue for Australian children's oral health.

    • The scheme was scrapped.

How would your idea of a doctor charging $7 or not based on income work ? Demand to see your tax return ?

Interesting looking at timeline of scheme

      From

Days later Health Minister Peter Dutton says the Government will not negotiate on introducing the charge, claiming the charge is necessary to make Medicare sustainable.

      To

The Coalition party room is told the co-payment is being scrapped. The announcement comes the morning after Assistant Treasurer Josh Frydenberg let the cat out of the bag on Q&A, telling host Tony Jones the policy was being dumped because "there wasn't enough support for it."

      • That's why I said bring it back. SIck of these welfare grubs extorting the taxpayer. It's not fair that our hard earn money goes towards taking care of these helpless fools. I will always vote Liberal and vote for a system that reduces the size of government and the public sector.

There are already methods to charge based on income. Medicare could accumulate all the times someone has visited a GP and deduct it from their pre-tax income or a simple half yearly bill could be issued via mygov, post or email.
