    Meh, better deals around

    TorGuard $us30/$au40/yr using TGlifetime50
has 1250 servers in 42 Countries
    https://torguard.net

    or Ivacy is $us22/$au29
    250 servers
    https://www.ivacy.com/

if you're really on a budget then vpn.sh has their sales every few months for ~$4/yr

Don't trust vpn review websites apart from say torrentfreak, the vast majority appear to be just paid advertising sites.

Lastly here's a spreadsheet from Reddit listing most VPN services & their security claims
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FJTvWT5RHFSYuEoFVpAe…

    • I've been looking recently into getting a paid VPN service, and thought I had it narrowed to PIA, TORGuard, NORD…but speed seems to be an issue for some. What are you using, Supabrudda?

      • +1

Torguard and NORD are both very good. (Speed and reliability)

      • +1

I've (just signed up to) Torguard, also have vpn.sh & VpnUnlimited

Torguard seems quick in Oz & US server.
Vpn.sh is much quicker then VpnUnlimited.

I recently tried trust.zone it was slow.

NordVPN i was looking at them, they seem quite good. You can get them for $us36/yr with code 70off

PIA i tried but they're fairly slow (for me at least).

        Good luck!

        • Sweet, thanks for that! Have you found vpn.sh to be quicker than TORGuard as well?

        • +1

@scored: no torguard is quicker and vpn.sh it's not that reliable. as In it mostly works, but sometimes (especially Sun-Mon) it goes down which is why I got the VPNUnlimited a/c for $us19/3yrs.

        • NordVPN leaks data when changing servers. Not very good.

        • @machej: I imagine they're all the same unless you've got a Windows/Mac/Linux box which can run a kill switch. Even then the Kill switches have to be setup to stop certain process/programs/apps when the connection is down/swapping servers.

Thats reminds me, there's bugger-all VPN's that I'm aware of which work with Netfix.

If anyone knows a VPN service they want & are after discounts keep an eye on
          https://www.reddit.com/r/vpncoupons
and (I hate to say it)
          https://stacksocial.com/deals/web-services#/Security

Also just ask the VPN providers. The TorGuard one I got from them by asking in a webchat.
For speeds, the only real way is to trial, so ask for a trial account. If they won't give one but say they offer a "no questions, money back guarantee", get it in writing (via a support ticket/email) and try them. The way your ISP routes traffic & handles VPN's can make a big difference.

        • @supabrudda: CG is one of the only ones I've used that does it effectively. It blocks all outgoing connections except to their own servers. (You can check Wireshark to see the results). Also it starts preparing the next connection before it fully switches the virtual LAN connection so there is barely any downtime as you switch. CG does have some working Netflix servers atm.

    • Good post @supabrudda, but isn't the price you mention for TorGuard for Anonymous Proxy and not Anonymous VPN ?

I see $9.99/month for the VPN and applying the code you suggest, drops it to about $5/month ie about $60/yr and not the $30 you mention.

Or, have I skipped something ?

      • +1

Sorry i missed the word Coupon after
        TGlifetime50

That works on the annual $59.99 VPN plan which becomes $29.99
It alas doesnt really work on the vpn + proxy plan (since its already discounted it takes 50% off the individual price of both)

        • Ok. Thanks @supabrudda

  • Not that much of a deal
Only allows to be used on one device
You have to pay more again for 5 devices

  • If you click on flag in top right corner and change to Australia the pricing is $37.49 AUD.

    • you're right! I fixed the link and the pricing. thanks.

  • "Free software gives access to a limited number of servers, the speed is much slower, disconnects and requires to wait to establish connection"

Did I read that right? If so, it'd wanna be free.

    • I only use CyberGhost occassionally - I don't think I need to have constant VPN, although that may change. For me CyberGhost free is just fine. Waiting to connect probably takes 90 seconds, the speed is fine for my purposes - to be sure I think it depends on the location selected - so if it is slow I just choose another location. It does disconnect but that's like after several hours usage. For free it's great in my mind.

  • CG is pretty decent if you need a GUI. Speeds are pretty good and servers are quite plentiful. The only issue is support if you need it and they seem to be quite defensive when there are issues on their end. In saying that they do often update their GUI and it's been pretty reliable recently.
