Holeless Wall Hooks Suggestions

I need to hang wall art but would like to do so without putting in permanent hooks. Anyone have much experience with holeless hooks? Any cheap, yet actually working hooks you can recommend? My mother used a major brand one (M3 or Command? I can't remember which one now!) but the picture fell down over night smashing the glass and frame!

Command is very good, maybe that particular hook didn't have the right amount of adhesive? Or perhaps it was placed without surface cleaning?

I'd suggest its user error rather than the 3M strip failing.

Another problem could have been they didn't wait 24hrs after putting the 3M strips on the wall before putting the picture up. Gotta give the adhesive a chance to 'set' so to speak.

Either that, or too few/too light 3M strips for the picture.

Source: I've used the 3M strips on more picture frames I can count. Varying from little frames of 6x4 photos to full heavy frames that are about poster size. Not 1 in 4 years has even come close to falling off the wall. Weigh your frames on a kitchen scale to make sure you know the weight your trying to stick on the wall, use the right number of correct strips and give it a chance to adhere. You can't go wrong.

    • I would probably steer clear of stick-on hooks. They have a real tendency to rip off your paint afterward, depending on what sort of wall you have

    Burning has these
    OW these
3M Command is the one I trust for perm heavy stuff.

    • Sorry to ask, You means Bunnings right?

      • bunnings and OW both sell COMMAND by 3M. Click link on my comment above.

To save a few bucks if you buy a few, select the product you need (normally select by how heavy of your item/picture is). Then google the item number and find the cheapest supply with a brick and mortar shop, price match in Officework.

Don't buy anything but 3M command especially those cheap ones from $2 shops. They'll rip the plaster straight off when it comes time to remove them.

  • If you have a brick wall, this is one of the most ingenious product I have seen in years. Works like magic, very reliable and strong:

  • I've had the 3m ones fail completely in higher temps 30deg plus inside while I'm on holiday.

There is no user error, I'm following the instructions completely.have switched to pinhole hooks with no complaints

  • Command can fail. I have a particular brown wall and a cream wall, both dulux wash'n'wear paint.. The 3m clips fall off by themselves on the brown paint, but are quite strong on the cream. There is something in the paint dye that prevents them from sticking.

    • Yep, I've had the same experience. Some paints contain anti-stick components (Telfon?) to make them easier to clean.
