Parisian-style steakhouse Entrecôte is treating cityfolk to $5 cheeseburgers on March 23 only at its CBD venue.

Here's what you get for one little pink note: 180 grams of grilled Hopkins River beef, cheddar, pickles and soft leaves, all covered in "secret herb & butter sauce", on a toasted brioche bun. With all that, you probably won't even need fries.

The burgers are takeaway only from the street-side window – with a limit of one per person, so no proxies.

The offer runs from 11.30am until 1pm, and is only available at Entrecôte City, not at Entrecôte South Yarra.

  (The Maccas ones don't come with the headband though…)

      After waiting 10 minutes in line, the sheepish waiter came out and told the first few people that they didn't have any burgers left.

      I asked if they could do a substitute protein and they refused.
