Good luck fidning eneloops in store. Boxes of DSE branded batteries everywhere though.

    • +4

The DSE Branded alkaline batteries I find are really poor and run out WAY too quickly.

      • That'd be why there are boxes of them all over the floor at my local.

      • They've been alright for me.

      • They also leak (quite of few of them!)

        • Never had this but no good if that's the case. I have young kids whose toys are littered with batteries in them. Might have to double check them all to be safe. Thanks for heads up.

        • @start3r: "oh yummy, mummy." cheap batteries and kids don't mix.

        • @eatwell365: it is ok for kids to eat expensive batteries?

    • AA 8pk Glitter @ $10 pack from Noosa - got last 4 packs.

    • Got 3x Panasonic AA 2 pack $4.99ea, 1x Panasonic AAA 4 pack $9.99, 2x Sanyo AA 2 pack $2.50 from my local store.

14 batteries for $29.96. Now what do I do with them?!

    • Grabbed last few packs of Japanese 2x AA eneloops @ $4 each.
Must have been sitting there a while. Wonder if any charge left in them.

Can't check stock for some reason

    • +17

      It is probably due to:

"Following the sale of the online business, our Dick Smith websites will become non-transactional from Thursday morning - 24th March."

      • +8

Thanks mate. Good luck with everything, hope you can find something else quickly

        • Thank you!

      • except they are still operational with a new sale ending 30/3/16

        • Thats the new batch of discount that went live this morning.

The liquidation process is still going on (in-store) but you cannot do any transaction online anymore.

  • Few packets of the pink glitter 8 pack eneloops left in the townwsville stockland store yesterday for $12. Picked up a packet.

    • Scored!

  • +3

Is it just me or has the Dick Smith site removed the check store stock button?

  • Now instore only?

  • +1

Pebble laid off 25% of their workforce today, hopefully they stick around.

    • +3

Just read about that this morning, I'm happy with the Pebble Time Steel and do hope they stick around for a while.

      • Don't think they will now that all major smartphone companies have entered the smartwatch market.

    • +1

Ditto. Absolutely love my Pebble and it'd suck if the company disappeared :(

    • That's a good price fore the Pebble Time.
      Good gift idea.

  • +1

I've been into both the Altona Gate and Highpoint DSEs and it's like the stores have been ransacked. I would hazzard a guess and say that over half that list isn't available. If on the other hand, you love yourself a bit of DSE branded gear then there was still a bit of that lying about!

Does anyone find Harmony 650 around Sydney area?

    Much appreciated!

    • +1

I've seen a few 350's over the last few weeks, but the 650's are very rare. Most places are out of everything but the 350s

    • Same problem in Melbourne.

I'd love to pick one up… but I've only seen piles of the 350… stupid screenless remote!

That, and a couple of the ultimate ones, which are still waaay to expensive for a remote at their current discount.

      • At which stores have you seen the ultimate ones?

  • Good price on the Logitech G933. Good set of cans too, have had them since release, can't fault them.

  • They had zero eneloop stock at my local store last week, hard to believe any more stock would of came in.

Does anyone know if this is 2.1A for when using just one port, or is it capable of 2.1A per USB port when charge 4 devices.
    Descriptions are sometimes misleading

  • Anyone else unable to add any items to shopping cart?

"Following the sale of the online business, our Dick Smith websites will become non-transactional from Thursday morning - 24th March."

      • Cheers. That explains a lot. Pity there's no way to check stock either but that's to be expected.

        • Their stock counts online were never accurate either :(

  • The hard drive link doesn't work fyi

    EDIT: fixed, cheers.

Anyone had any luck buying anything useful from dick Smith recently? These low prices are great but every store I've walked into has been emptied out of anything worth buying.

    • I popped into my local the other day to see if I could get a GPS. They only had a couple of display models left, with no chargers. And a Garmin Zumo motorbike GPS. When I asked about the price, the manager told me to keep my money because it was only 20% off retail at the time, but "in a couple of weeks we'll be able to sell it for at least half off".

It's looking like slim pickings there at the moment … unless you want a TV or soundbar in which case there were lots of bargains to be had.

  • About only thing left in dse near me is tvs and hair dryers.

  • I know this is really pushing it, but are there any DSE stores still with some decent noise cancelling earphones.

Otherwise, I know Point Cook and Emporium have both been cleaned up

  • +6

The DSE fire sale has been a huge disappointment so far.
SAVE $10 OFF a Pebble Time!!!
    Woop de ducking doo.

  • +1

Same here. I don't even bother to visit a store.. There mostly phone accessories, clock radios and iphone docks left at my local store the last time I was there.

  • +5

The administrators would probably saved a lot of money if they close all the stores, and bring everything back to the warehouse and sell the discounted stock through their website instead catchoftheday style. I bet there are a lot of people who would have bought something, but couldn't be bothered hunting for it from store to store.

    • I think that the administrators have got the sales strategy totally wrong. Some stores I been too have nothing of interest, hardly any customers but they must still be incurring rent, wages and other operating costs. Surely this compoundeds their losses?

You would think an alternative would be for them to package stock by states, rent a pavilion in each state, and just clear everything over a weekend. Would create a competitive market, limit your marketing spend and the weekend would time limit would lure people to impusle buy.

      • +1

Mate, you know how much time, paperwork, effort and wages would go into doing something like this?

  • +1

My local store (Wollongong) has been pretty picked over. There are a lot of phone accessories, some networking gear, some tvs, and they're flogging the fixtures too. Almost no computer hardware (some DSE and logitech mice and keyboards, nothing that you would want to use), no cameras, fitness products that aren't actually cheaper than other locations.

It's all rather pathetic. No one is going to want the dregs. Almost everything listed in this post (and thank you OP for listing!) is unavailable in the Wollongong store.

  • +2

Just tried to call my local store to ask if they have stock, not even bothering to answer the phone. ha, maybe they sold it ;)

    • +1

Maybe :) All the shelving was for sale at the one near me.

  • Am still undecided between Pebble and Android wear. The price makes the Pebble Time quite tempting though.

    • get the PT,
Apart from the eInk advantage, they are very light weight compared to some AW watches.
I almost choked when I saw a Moto R in real life. Huge and heavy.

    • Both have their pros and cons but i got a Pebble time steel when it was on sale. Battery lasts up to a week (big plus for me), screen is easier to read under daylight and its always on, generally cheaper, and form factor is quite reasonable. Otherwise apart from the above, android wear should be a little superior in the other aspects.

      • Yeah, the smaller size and better battery life are the main draws for me. Only concern that I have would be the compatibility of apps, or lack thereof.

For example, I use the built in Sony Music player which comes with my Sony phone. I believe it supports music control via Android Wear but I'm not sure if it'll work with Pebble.

        • +1

Media control is generic and the default app should work fine. If you'll be interested a better music control experience, I bought a more comprehensive app called MusicBoss, which shows album art and can use thumbs up/down for some music apps.

  • Got the JBL Flip 3 in Ashfield. Blue and Red still available. Thanks OP. :)

  • Bose QC25 are $299.25 in store.

  • I forgot, how many more weeks until they completely close down again?

  • Good luck with dick, still haven't received click and collect confirmation for a tv I ordered and the store refuses to answer the phone.

Got to be one of the worst businesses for customer service I've known.

    • At this stage, do you think they even care?

      • +2

no and they never have it seems. I also tried calling customer service and after listening to a lengthy message saying it's business as usual and to place orders as normal, it cuts you off, both numbers below are the same. Phoned the store 20 times, either engaged or no answer. So yeah, they're correct, it's business as usual. I doubt they even have the TV in stock. Guess I'll be making a Paypal claim.
        Customer service: 1300 660 054
        Sales: 1300 366 644

        • Have you been to the store to try to collect it anyway?

        • @bamzero:
Finally got a call from Dick, the tv is not in stock. When I said it was showing when I ordered, I was told it was water damage stock as they had a flood a couple of weeks ago. Presumably from a burst water pipe as it's not really rained and there's no river nearby. They probably just haven't had time to take it off the system due to the "flood" clean up. Good old Dick.

  • Without checking stock in store online it be a wild goose chase and probably most things gone been in a couple of local stores before today and hardly anything there, either most stuff they used to have already sold or out back.

  • The Gungahlin DSE store has just crap left, mainly Move cables, some crappy alarm clocks and some TV's still at 20% off. Rest of the stuff is just the store fixtures.

Also a heap of DSE batteries.

  • no online orders?

  • I just picked up 2 packs of the Eneloop 'Family Kit' in regional WA for $15 a piece. I was chasing any eneloops and that was all that there was (with the exception of some 4 packs with quick and smart chargers listed above) There were no stickers, dots or anything to suggest a price, other than the normal price tag, just tried my luck at the counter and was rewarded. grabbed these as they were good / better value per battery (10 included and C/D cases), the charger I can take or leave, anyone's thoughts on the included charger I am still using the energizer 8hr charger?

  • Saw a Pebble Time Steel Gold in MQC store, $268, resisted… as I have a pebble time already.

  • Thanks Trent. Ton of effort put in here.

  • God dammit! Logitech G933, looked so dam good. Called 8 stores around Brisbane that had 1 showing in the system and they are all gone

They are doing the G633s for $166 Though which isn't too bad I guess.

  • any stock of the quick charger in QLD/NSW?

  • anyone knows which DSE store still has Logitech K480 bluetooth wireless keyboard?

    • I am looking for one as well but no luck….
