BSOD event with latest PotPlayer, on Windows 10 + Radeon drivers

Is anyone else experience the same issue as I am?

My hardware is
Intel® Core™ i5-3570
12GB DDR3 RAM
Radeon R9 380 4GB GPU

Latest beta drivers
Latest version of PotPlayer

Not sure why, but ever since AMD rebadged their drivers as AMD Crimson Software, everytime I run Potplayer to play video files there's about a 1/10 chance that it usually results in a BSOD.

Anyone getting same issue?

Can't really go back to VLC because the video quality is pretty crappy.

  • Try MPC-HC x64 instead.

    • Wish it had better support for touch display. PotPlayer supports touchsreen gesture but MPC is very bare.

  • +1

    Could be the reason why

    • Actually, just checked, I'm actually on WHQL drivers. Will try Beta now.

  • check your minidump file
    C:\Windows\minidump

If you install windbg you will be able to tell which file is creating the BSOD.

  • I have a PC with very similar spec to yours… runs Pot perfectly but this is Win7.

  • Yank the GPU and see if it dies with just the iGPU. That BSOD seems like it is all drivers.
