Do You Use Rinse Aid with Finish Quantum Tablets

Hi all

I have pretty much always used Finish Quantum tablets in our dishwasher. (Always buying them when they are on special on OzB)

One of the benefits of using Quantum, as it says on the packaging, is that it has the Rinse Aid function.

Does this mean that you don't need to add Rinse Aid separately to the dishwasher ?

As a result I have never added separate Rinse Aid liquid to the RA compartment in dishwasher

Lately, we have a slight white hazy film on stainless steel utensils coming out of the dishwasher. Could the absence of Rinse Aid liquid be to blame for this ?

TIA

  • We still use rinse aid with these tablets in our Bosch dishwasher.

We still use rinse aid with these tablets in our LG dishwasher. It needs all the help it can get.

  • I find the Finish gel really good. It used to be in a bigger bottle and was really good value. Now they repackaged in a smaller yellow bottle and it is more expensive :(
The good thing is that you can put in as much as you judge necessary. Small not greasy load little detergent. Large greasy load a bit more. Better value than the tablets. And it does not ruin the glasses like the powder stuff.
I still put in the rinse aid though.

  • Its probably your dishwasher.

I never use it but I have a Miele.

We have never used these overpriced dishwasher tablets - were told that before purchase of our Miele - which is now 15 years old & works beautifully. Use the Coles or Woolworths generic brand powder- apx. $2.90 per box. For rinse aid we have only ever used white vinegar - again advised by the seller. You might have to give the cutlery a quick rub with a tea towel to remove water spots but everything else comes out sparkling. Why pay a fortune for marketing from major companies when there is a far cheaper alternative?

I was using just vinegar in my new dishwasher and then did a bit of reading online and stopped using it after reading quite a few forum posts of people complaining (and manufacturers blaming) it for "eating" some of the plastic seals on the dishwasher. Not sure of the truth so I then started running a 50-50% vinegar and water mix which works fine. Since I bought a lot of Rinse Aid when it was on special, so I've been using that lately.

As far as tablets, I only use Finish Quantum now as I just buy a whole stack of them when they are half price at Coles/Woolies. They are great but still need the use of a rinse aid or vinegar otherwise glasses still come out a bit wet.

Best thing I did was stop using the Finish (etc) dishwasher cleaners as they make it smell nice but they really don't clean that well. I took apart the whole thing as mould and grease was building up in hard to see/access places. Scrubbed that away and thorough washed the filter in bleach and it's great.

  • What's the best tablet around? I always paid extra for finish tablets but now after reading some replies I'm not so sure… Used Aldi for a bit and found them ok

  • I use Finish Quantum tablets and don't use rinse aid.

  • Most people still use RA even with Quantum ….

I plan to stop using the Quantum, unless I can get them for same price as Max in 1 or others ….
