Good/Cheap Family Hotel in Tokyo?

Hi Guys,

I know there are probably other forum posts to wade through, but I have no time left as I go to Tokyo in a few days time, so I hoped someone might give me a quick pertinent hotel suggestion for Tokyo? It's for me, the wife and 2 kids 10 and 13 yolds. Somewhere Central - for four nights, east side maybe better as it seems the trains from Narita cost almost double to go to the west side of the city? Anyway, something around ~AU$150 - $175 a night for a small family of 4 would be great. Any suggs - VERY much appreciated, as Google searches just rehash the same old listed tripe from travel aggregator websites.

Arigato!!! :-)

I read a great review (might have been here) about Tokyu Stay monzen nakacho, we're going to stay there and of June early July.

Two kids, two adults, right near rail line and a temple, breakfast included, washing machine, fridge etc, 7 days 113,100 jpy. Works out great, apparently rooms large enough, looking forward to it.

I booked directly through their website.

    Cheers

  • If you don't mind Ryokan style and shared bathroom and toilet, try this one: http://www.tokyoryokan.com/

They are very lovely. Place is small but clean and close to Tawaramachi station.

  • Whatever you end up deciding, have a look at this to get an extra 10% off on your hotel (provided it is not on the exclusions list)

Have you considered Airbnb? We (3 adults + 1 child) are heading to Japan end of May/early June And for some reason a lot of the affordable hotels are booked out. Must be something going on but thought it would be less popular as it is after Golden week - guess I was wrong! Lol ended up booking Airbnb accommodation so the crazy one can run around in.

    • I second AirBnB suggestion. got back from Tokyo the other week and stayed the majority of the time in an AirBnB apartment - two adults and two kids (8 and 5)
