Xbox Live continually down in 2016 on Xbox One

G'day fellas

I'm wondering if anyone else has similar issues and/or any suggestions.

The last two weekends I haven't been able to play online. Network test says it's fine, multiplayer connection is fine, all ports are open, i can see others online and even message them but i cannot play.

I even made a YouTube video showing the issue:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUULgHpsXH4

Now I haven't been able to play multi for nearly a week, 3-4 days now. It's been down about 50 % of the year for me and other Aussies i have spoken to have the same issue. Seems like the service is just buggery as heck now, unless someone can suggest something? I've tried with static ip with ports forwarded, dynamic ip, google DNS, ISP DNS. And i don't do anything to fix it. It just works some days and not others without any change from me. Is this the new norm for X-box Live? Pretty pathetic. Tweeted Phil but got no reply, of course.

Cheers

Don't think it's anything wrong on your side.

    • Thanks for that. I didn't realise there were numerous other ppl who also haven't been able to get on for days. The official Xbox status always says it's fine so it's not to be trusted. That site you linked to seems a lot more honest.

  • You have the latest update?

And how do you run your xbox - "always on" or power saving?

I say whenever you have these issues hard reset your console - hold the Xbox logo on the console down for 10 seconds, unplug the console from the power outlet for 30 seconds and restart. This always seems to fix whatever problems I'm having.

It's all up to date, yes. It's on power saving. I've hard reset it about 10 times since this latest batch of Live not working.

I haven't tried using an Ethernet cable, but really, why should i have to? It's convenient for me to use wireless so that's what i want to use. I'd need a ~15-20 metre network cable to plug it in with where it's located and it should work fine on wireless. I thought it was mostly aussies affected but that link the other poster shared seems to suggests yanks have the same prob too.

      • Hmm that's a pain, maybe it's an internal problem with the console?

  • Can i just post an update here in case anyone has the same issue.

I was reading through the comments on that site posted above by ozhunter and believe it or not signing out and in seems to fix the prob. It's prolly a temporary fix but anyway it does seem to work for me and others also so if anyone has the same issue, give that a try.

  • G'day!

  • I haven't had any issues of late. Are you part of the preview program? What ISP are you with?

    • Not in preview program and with TPG

Well that counts out any possible preview program issues. I'm with Telstra, for what it's worth. Hopefully your temporary fix turns into a solid solution.

I've had issues but I figured it was my xbox. I just sign in and out and it fixes it. It's a crap solution but then I can access XBL so it's better than nothing.

    • According to the posts above and the particular issues, prolly not your xbox.. that's the same i have to do: sign out and in and then it connects properly. Something really wrong with Xbox Live this year sadly :(

  • In the preview program, no issues for me.

  • I'd be posting on Microsoft support's wall and demanding my money back for XBL under Australian consumer law. Perhaps get a bunch of people you know are having issues and have them all 'like' the post so it is promoted.

The other thing you could try is power line ethernet adapters. They are usually around $20 at officeworks or any computer part store.

Ethernet works so much better than wifi and you'd probably get better game play as well!

  • whenever I get Xbox live connection issues I restart my modem (Telstra TG797n modem but now working on Exetel fibre) even though other devices like my iPad are getting network fine… Seems to fix it for me.

  • Hi OP, have you spoken to Xbox support on the phone?

  • I don't have the issues you're having on wireless or wired, and I can't think of a time when I couldn't play online. My Xbox is set to power saving.

  • I have been having issues also. I have found that removing my account then re-linking it to my xbox solves it.

I also have the issue where i sign into my microsoft account (with xbox live subscription showing as active) and cant access any of the games/deals with gold. Again, log in and out and it seems to work.
