A Rule for Offer Sites like Ouffer, Scoop of The Day, Scoopon (New Cotd Site) and Any Others

Would be interested to know others think about the one deal, but minimum number of people to purchase sites.

I know that Ouffer only post deals when they reach the required number but others don’t.

With COTD site Scoopon starting today all over Aus, I think we should introduce a rule for all these sites, that it is only posted on Ozbargain when the deal reaches the required number.

I realise that most of these do become live deals, but until they do they are not a bargain in my opinion.

Thanks.

Edit: Scoop of the day have just stated in there latest deal they will now only post when required number reached.
Still think its needed though as anyone else can still post. If it was a set rule we could notify mods at least. This would stop a possible good deal being removed before it is live

Yep good point mason. The mods have had a bit of discussion on this and it seems like a reasonable rule. Ouffer posted something here the other day, giving away a free box of stuff…if 1000 people per city bought in. Not a problem for Sydney but looking at the site today, Melbourne hasn't even hit 100. I wouldn't want to sign up for a freebie unless I'm actually going to get it. It's more of a competition.

I think thats a great idea, and something i have been ranting about for a while.

Another is the stock level! Perhaps we could have a stock level indicator or where the tick boxes are when submitting a deal we could have a drop down or free form box to put the amount of stock in. ie with less than 5 or an agreed number being the min.

This way we could stop the 1 item deals which are a bargain to the poster only

My thoughts on this how about instead of the big individual sites posting their deals on the front page post their deals in the forum. Let have a dedicated thread and mind you only one thread for them to post their deal.

Secondly they dont even need to post here. We all know their site exists and we can check for ourselves if interested. There is no need fot hem to continue reminding us that they exist. To me it feels ozbargain is becoming more of a advertising, interest rate comparison site.

Thirdly so far i am yet to see a good bargain from these 3 big sites. Most of their deals are from surburbs that its hardly worth to travel to. I mean they have massage deals from manly and that too the business offering the discount only has one store. Why cant they do deals from businesses which has multiple store accessible to everyone eg $50 bras n things voucher for $25. Wouldnt that be nice.

Having all the one day deal sites consolidated here on OzBargain will be implemented sometime this year. Finger crossed :)

      • As if you could read my mind Scotty… :) I only found this page (!) by googling for a site that combines all mayor offer sites. Awesome idea, thanks.

Just an update, added a rule talking about posting non-active group buy deals. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…
