Woodstock Bourbon & Cola Can 375mL (24 Pack) $63 (was $77) @ Liquorland

90

Went to my local Liquorland (Cranbourne, VIC) in search of a cheap pack of 24 cans of whisky and coke (favourite drop!).
Came across a 24-pack case of Woodstock Bourbon & Cola, one of my favourite pre-mixes (almost on-par with a good Johnnie Walker & Cola), for $63, down from $77, a good saving of $14. Last time I got this case, paid $68 so was certainly pleased.
Did some searching online and First Choice also have it for the same price.
Usually, Dan Murphy's match or beat the price of these 2 stores to honour their guarantee but looks like it's more expensive at $70.99, so thought I'd post it as a bargain.
(If you so desire, Price Match at Uncle Dan's, pay using eGift cards from CR and thus effectively pay only $59.85! YMMV).

FYI: For those interested in some Johhnie's & Coke, Liquorland has a special on them (10 packs) too at 2 for $62.

Please drink (and bargain) responsibly.

How much wood would a Woodstock stock if a Woodstock would stock wood?

  • like my asian friend with Vegemite, thanks, but never again with Woodstock…

  • Anyone who drinks this stuff like to comment on how this is better than just buying bourbon and a block of coke / Pepsi or whatever?

I get that you don't need a glass … this can be overcome in the bottle of bourbon scenario by taking a slurp from the aldi cola can (other brands may work) before topping up the can.

how this is better than just buying bourbon and a block of coke

It's not. This is targeted purely at those folk who can't be bothered enough to mix drinks on their own, to the point that they'd rather hand over more of their hard earned cash (or more of their easily earned Centrelink benefits) for somebody else to do it for them.

You left out that the cans also fit nicely in the drink holder of the new Woolies trolleys…

I guess because its premixed you dont have the mix getting stonger throughout the night which can lead to all sorts of problems caused by things you did but can't remember.

ROFL - what sort of perverse logic is that?

People drink until they are pissed enough, that's the ENTIRE purpose of drinking alcohol.

It's wasteful to drink numerous cans of massively over-priced 5% premix, when you can save dollars and massive amounts of urination time by drinking something stronger.

If you don't want to get drunk, then drink non-alcoholic drinks. A can of coke is heaps cheaper than this lolly water pretending to be booze!

Slab of coke, let's say $12. Cheaper if you buy another brands cola. 1 and a half bottles of bourbon, based on Woodstocks 1.4 standard drinks per can. $30 a bottle on a really good day, more likely $33+.

So your on $49.50 worth of bourbon, $12 worth of coke, $61.50 vs $63, you don't have to mix it yourself. Then theres the regulating, buggered if mine would end up at 1.4 standard drinks

Also easier if you're out fishing or camping. Just pull a can out of the esky, crack it open and go.

I've done both and can is way easier.. Unless you buy a 2L bottle of coke, pour half of it out and mix in your spirit.

      • Everyone listen to Trozza. This is why the cans are so convenient. If you're going somewhere where it's BYO, much easier to just pull a can out of the fridge and be on your way.

        • Meh, I'd rather just have a beer and chug the bourbon.

Then again I don't really like Coke / other sweet drinks but I like the taste of bourbon (or similar strength beverages).

Don't know about the rest of you but I've never been able to mix <preferred brown alcohol here> and cola to taste like what the pre-mixes do.

On the rare occasion I mix alcohol with cola I find I'm always chasing that pre-mixed in a can taste and I can never get the mix right.

I keep trying…until the cops come.

Don't know about the rest of you but I've never been able to mix <preferred brown alcohol here> and cola to taste like what the pre-mixes do.

That is because the 5% alcohol in these premix cans is REALLY weak.

Simply go and purchase a NIP POURER. Install in top of bottle, tip to pour. You can get them in various capacities, usually colour coded. 30ml is a standard nip but if you want that "nighclub drinks" taste then get a 20ml pourer, or perhaps a 15ml. It may also help to mix water into your spirits as well, just to further reduce the effectiveness LOL.

Anyway to make the same taste as a 375ml premix can of 5%… you need 375 x 0.05 = 18.75ml of alcohol. So that means 47ml of 40% spirit or 50ml of 37.5%. Quick calc is to divide the serving by 8… so in a standard size 250ml glass, you would use 250 / 8 = 31ml, which is a dribble over 1 nip of 40%.

    I never thought I'd see Woodstock on ozbargain. It's a sad day…

    • I remember the time when Woodstock was considered too low brow even for my full bogan mates to drink…

    • Agreed. Premix is very very far from a cheap way to consume alcohol and definitely not the choice of an OzBargainer.
It is specifically taxed higher to discourage young bogan types to drink it
