CS Team CS Team: Connected with Bess G.
CS Team CS Team: Hi James Richardson! My name is Bess G..
CS Team CS Team: I have reviewed the reason you are contacting us and I am happy to assist.
Customer James Richardson: Hi there,
I have tried contacting MSI Australia and they said that they do not provide warranty services for items from the US. I have been having issues with this card lately, it started with the AMD display driver crashing and recovering, and now when i stress test it for stability there is a complete signal loss and i have to hard reset the computer. I have done extensive testing including updating my motherboard BIOS, installing all windows upates and AMD graphics drivers, reseated ram, tried a different and known working power supply, tried a different motherboard slot and finally i tried a different graphics card (an MSI R7 370), and was not able to reproduce any of the problems found with my R9 380.

Given that i am from Australia, What can i do in terms of a warranty / replacement product for this item.

Thankyou.
Agent Bess G.: Hi James. Thank you for providing me with that information. I will be more than happy to assist you. May I please place you on hold for a moment while I look into this?
Customer James Richardson: yes that's fine
Agent Bess G.: Thank you for holding. Upon checking, I show the order is an international order which was placed on 11/15/2015. The item has already passed Newegg 15-days' return period from invoice date. Besides, I show there is no warranty from manufacturer. I apologize that we are unable to help at this time.
Customer James Richardson: so there is no warranty at all for this item, even though it states that there is a 2 year warranty when i purchased
Agent Bess G.: Generally, there is no manufacturer warranty for international orders. You may also check the return policy on item page under warranty. http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14…
Agent Bess G.: For US orders, the warranty from manufacturer is 3 years.
Customer James Richardson: So, what are my options. Is there any possibility of me getting any after sales service for this product?
Agent Bess G.: I apologize that we are unable to help in this case. The item was already passed Newegg period and there is no manufacturer warranty.
Customer James Richardson: So i would like to get this straight, is NewEgg operating within Australia with an Australian Business Number?
Agent Bess G.: Just to confirm, do you mean you need Newegg customer service phone number within Australia?
Customer James Richardson: that would be helpful too, but that is not what i meant
Customer James Richardson: If you conduct business within Australia you must adhere to minimum after sales service requirements
Customer James Richardson: so i would like to know if you have an Australian Business number
Customer James Richardson: if there is a Newegg Australia branch, they would need a business number
Agent Bess G.: Thank you for that information.
Agent Bess G.: I apologize that we do not have a branch in Australia now.
Agent Bess G.: You may call us at 800-390-1119 during our normal business hours of Monday through Friday 5:30am – 5:30pm PST and Saturday 8:30am-5:00pm PST if you would like.
Customer James Richardson: so if this is the case i think i will never purchase anythign from Newegg ever again
Customer James Richardson: Thankyou and goodbye
CS Team CS Team: The session has ended!

Ask MSI USA for warranty. You might need to ship it to them.

    I'll do a TL:DR.

OP's brother buys a R9 380 15/11/15 from newegg. Runs into problems, contacts support. Newegg claims no after sales support are available 15 days after invoice date for international orders.

    Needs help.

  • Well next step is… Contact MSI and see if you can ship it to them? I couldn't actually find anything on MSIs website that says the warranty is region specific, can you have a look in the instruction manual/warranty card and see what it says?

Or try live chat again and try and have it escalated. That response is frankly pathetic

They aren't required to have an ABN and they don't have to adhere to Australian consumer law, just because they ship to Australia.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I can't help you getting it fixed or replaced (frankly have not been impressed with MSI's lack of after sales service) but I'll just leave you with a bit of advice. BUY EVGA! These guys rock when it comes to warranty work and will even warranty a card if you rip off their cooling and chuck a waterblock on it (pending that isn't what caused the fault). Hey just remembered You could try Booj the MSI rep over on overclockers.au forum but I doubt you'll get far. Very our product is superior in all ways to others sort of guy. Good Luck!

Its a risk you take purchasing overseas. Essentially it will either cost you an arm and a leg to send back & forth if they honor warranty, but most times you kiss your warranty goodbye.
