[Solved] Hide a User Feature?

Hi,

There is a particular user who pops up at the start of most threads and I find his/her comments very negative.

Is there any way that I can block this user so that I do not see any of their posts?

(I did search unsuccessfully and I am also aware that there may be issues with people replying to that users comments etc).

      Other forums have this feature and I was unsure whether we had it on OZB. I didn't expect anybody to code this just for me :)

      I would prefer to not get involved and just be oblivious to the comments that certain users make :)

    Click the hide link below the comment you don't wish to see. Then check the box that says Hide comments from user XXX.

      Added: Nearly perfect.. you can still see that the user commented but the comment is hidden. This is a great improvement for me though :) Thanks again.

        Neil, I think smashed is looking for an option of a blocked list. We currently have something for messages - we could use something similar for the comments section.

          Yes it's not that obvious, however you can find the blocked list of commenters under

          "My Account" -> Settings -> edit / deals

          Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

        You'd still need something like this otherwise the subsequent replies to the comment would not make sense.

    I'd like to block myself from buying stuff I see here all the time. Is there such a feature?

    Update to this post, does this feature only block users in Deal posts?

    I have blocked user 'jv' but I am still able to see forum posts by this user.

      The settings for different post types are independent. If you go to your "blocked" page (settings -> blocked tab) and you'll see a list of users that you wish to block for deals, competitions and forums. So to block jv's forum posts, you'll have to go to his forum post, click on "Hide" and then block there.

        I am no longer able to reproduce this. I see jv only under "Blocked Commenters" but comments in forums and deal posts both appear as hidden.

        I will keep an eye out and if I see further posts in the future I will proceed to follow your steps on blocking.
