New Speed Camera near HomeBush Bay, M4 Exit, DFO, Flemington Paddy's Market, IKEA, Concord Hospital

Spot flashes from the opposite direction that.other driver was snapped by a fixed speed camera today.

Seems like this is a new speed camera and many may not be aware.

Think many of our fellow OZBers from Sydney drive past this camera (I just know, esp from past posts). Think to bring it to your attention. Hopefully to save one or two of you and family some money and demerit points.

location

there is only one small sign and camera is pretty hard to spot.

  • Cue claims of revenue raising

  • Thanks for the heads up. Also, you weren't playing with your mobile phone while driving were you? That couldn't have been a dashcam photo since it's taken in portrait orientation..

    • Nope. 4 demerit points - just not worth it.

  • +2

Pass that intersection on the way to UNI. That speed camera has been there for months but was only made active recently. I disagree with the signage part though, plenty of signs everywhere. It's difficult to get caught anyway because of traffic jams half the time. Such a pointless camera.

It's a nice gesture for you to post but in the end don't speed/run red lights and you won't be caught.

    • signs may not be as noticeable if cars turn left from M4 exit.

      • That's where I come from. No issues for me. Depends what car you drive as well fair point.

  • I don't get it. If you're following the speed limit, why is this a concern? This info is for hoons

    • Are you kidding?

      Are you really from WA?

Have you seen the (part of the bigger picture LOL) upgraded Great Easter Highway. 3 lanes 60Km/h and a guarantee of hitting every red light when following that speed.

      Just one example of many.

    • @ Downero.

      So your point is?

The reason Speed cameras are there AND they do get some notification of its location, is because the govt says that this makes the intersection safer.

A truly effective speed camera will raise no revenue as it does the job of stopping speeding at that location.

So the more people who know its there means the safer the intersection.

Hence fines are there to be a deterrent, not revenue raising (although it doesnt stop cash strapped govts from misusing this tool)

We are talking about FIXED cameras not mobile ones.
