Best Bang for Buck 240GB SSD?

What is the collective opinion of Ozbargainers regarding the current best bang for buck SSD of 240 GB capacity? I need to buy one within a week.

Thanks!

  • Samsung 850 EVO or PRO if you want the warranty.

    • Samsung is out of question, its expensive. And warranty over 3 years does not even matter, as the price of 1 TB SSD with super fast speed will be under 100$ at that time.

        uhh… Intel 535?

        Intel 535 Series SSDSC2BW240H601 240GB $108 from MSY

UMART is selling the Sandisk Ultra II (240GB) for $99

and this PNY from Amazon is about a hundred

        • How is the Intel 535, performance-wise? This does not tell a good story here - http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Intel-535-Series-240GB/Rating/3…

        • @bargainaus:

You're unlikely to notice the 'lower performance' unless you're performing benchmarks or doing a lot of non-sequential r/w operations. I'd probably recommend the Ultra II at $99 (as scrimshaw said) as it gives very solid performance especially for the price (compared to the $99 SSD Plus and the Intel 535).

        • @donnot: I am using an OCZ ARC 100 120GB SSD for over a year and it has been great so far. It has MLC while Sandisk Ultra II has TLC NAND controller, hmm. Its 99$ at MSY too.

OCZ ARC 100 vs Sandisk Ultra II - http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/SanDisk-Ultra-II-240GB-…

        • @bargainaus:

Although it's MLC in the arc 100, Toshiba only rates it as being capable of 20gb of writes per day for 3 years. That's about 21.6TB or 180P/e cycles (for a 120GB drive). Realistically they'd do better than that though. The SanDisk Ultra II is rated to do at least 500 cycles. Endurance testing has been documented here https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2340493

        • @donnot: Just checked the SMART data of my current OCZ ARC 100 120GB, it shows 95% of life left after 1 year of usage. Can't complain!

ARC 100 is even better than the above suggested Intel 535! - http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/OCZ-ARC-100-240GB-vs-In…

Point to note that, longer warranty (>3 yr) and endurance do not matter much as I think I'll be buying 1TB super fast SSD in 3 years time for under 100$.
