Everten sent it this morning. Silit Professional Black Frypan 20cm $39.95 + $8.90 shipping
Seems like a good deal comparing other prices if you need this pan.

I already purchased my SS from COTD (that is now gone up the price), so don't really need it, but still cannot stop looking at the pans. Don't you hate when you already made a purchase to have second thoughts and keep looking for a better product? Keep reminding myself to have no regrets after making a purchase, but cannot help it

  • Everten says the RRP is $129.95 - any idea what they usually sell for?

  • Cannot find the exact one anywhere. Similar 24cm pan costs $139 here https://www.house.com.au/brand/silit
but I don't know if its the same one or not. Cannot also comment on the quality, as it has mixed reviews. But with AU shop should be able to replace

    • Amazon de (germany) has it for 55 euros on sale. So this is a pretty good price. Shame it is smaller than i was looking for.

  • Good call, thank you. Grabbed one. Have other Silit cookware. Usual super high quality German product.

  • What's the difference between these high quality fry pans and the cheap ones you get from Woolies / Coles??

    • they use a non-reactive ceramic like cooking surface. can be used on highest heat settings and are oven save (dependent on the handles, i know their pots definitely are). cheap woolies and coles pots usually are teflon coated which release a gas at higher heats which is carcinogenic and also the non-stick coatings can flake if used at high heats often, and ingesting the coating is also carcinogenic.

the silit coating isnt non-stick, but is easy to clean if you are using oil to cook. they are amazing surfaces for browning foods and slower cooked meals like pastas and curries.

we use our silit set for everything. we dont have a large fry pan yet, but its on the wish list.

  • Keep in mind that 20cm is pretty small. Smaller than most side plates and significantly smaller than most dinner plates.

  • Whoever has one of these.. how heavy are they? How do ceramic non stick compare to teflon based non stick?

    • ceramic coatings arent really non stick, but because they are super smooth, you generally dont have to put much elbow grease in to remove cooked on food. they are dishwasher safe too, which is a good method for cleaning them. you can also use them at highest heat settings, which you are not supposed to do with teflon. see my comment above.

    • oh, and yes, they are heavy, not as heavy as cast iron, but probably the next heaviest after iron. heavier than stainless steel and copper based pots too. i believe these are the type of pots and pans you buy to last you 15 - 20 years or more.
