The question is to figure out which Chinese phone this is.

If Kogan is selling it at $179, I can bet you will get from Aliexpress for $100

    • It's just an OEM phone so I doubt you'll find it on Aliexpress. Kogan used to use BenQ but it's so much cheaper to OEM instead.

      • Interesting to note the 4G LTE support for Aussie networks — a lot of people are harping about the lack of the low-frequency 700mhz LTE band missing from international models.

Looks like Kogan has specifically ordered for a device which includes this band for Aussie networks. Big Plus actually.

    According to Lifehacker

5-inch LED display, a 1.3GHZ Octacore processor, dual SIM card slots, a removable 2050mAh battery, a Micro SD card slot, an 8-megapixel camera, 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory. The device runs on last generation’s Android 5.1 (Lollipop) out of the box. Here are the specifications in full:

So-So I guess. It's nice that it has a 64-bit Octa core processor, but the 2050mah battery is pretty small compared to a lot of chinese devices near the same price range. The display resolution is touted as 'HD IPS' so I'm guessing they are keeping it to a very middling res of 720p to cut on costs and save battery life.

On the upside it seems to have all / most of the major network bands covered — which is great for Telstra / Optus users

    3G Network 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100

    4G Network 700 (B28A ) / 850 (B5) / 1800 (B3) / 2600 (B7)

the Wifi is apparently not Wifi AC capable, as it is 2.4ghz only. Not a deal breaker though as 5ghz range is often not so great.

I'd keep an eye out for the Lenovo Lemon 3 and the XM Redmi 3
