Being new to purchasing furniture, I was wondering if you guys had any advice. (I've previously only ever purchased a bed and mattress and learnt so much about mattress sales tactics online - they are worse than car salesmen!!)
Recently purchased a house and am in the market for a new dinning table and 3 seat sofa. We would like things a bit compact in the new space as it's not huge but we want to get good quality furniture that we can bring with us when we move overseas in a couple of years.
Here are the two items that I am pretty keen on with the prices quoted.
1) Tessa T4 or Delmont 3 seat leather lounge - ~$4000
2) Mark Tuckey American Oak Table (2m x 1m and 60 mm thick with heavy duty stainless steel frame) ~ $4500
My questions:
Any other options for something similar items for a better bargain in the Melbourne area (my budget for the two are approximately what I quoted above)?
Can you bargain at these places or is it pretty much stock standard pricing?
I noticed when I went to the shops today that there were Autumn sales that all "ended today" (they had signs saying ending April 17th). I am just starting to look so was not in a position to buy yet. Do these sales come around often? And would they be willing to negotiate to these prices after the promotional period ends?
Thanks for any two cents you can provide. Obviously, these questions are awfully specific but having learnt so much at Ozbargain over the years, thought that this would be a great place to start before investing so much money!
