Cashrewards Survey

I received an email invitation from Cash Rewards to do a short survey and in return I got an entry into a competition. There are a couple of hundred prizes. I'm fairly new to Cash Rewards and I was wondering if this was a regular promotion. I was also wondering what other members thought of the invitation email and the survey.

The subject line read "You're in the top few percent". There was no explanation of what they meant by this in the body of the email. It was a pleasant email but it could be interpreted as over the top. "You are one of our favourite members". I'm sure this email got sent to thousands of members. I know the current marketing trend is to make members feel important but this sounds so nice that I can't believe it is really true. I don't expect an organisation like Cash Rewards to have "favourite members". I'd expect Cash Rewards to treat all members fairly and equally.

It is possible the survey was sent to members who have purchased through the site in the last 30 days.

Cash Rewards didn't have to try that hard to get me to do the survey. I like online surveys, both the "guaranteed payment" and the "you might win a prize" type. I'm guessing that other Cash Rewards members wouldn't need much incentive to do the survey given that we are all looking for ways to help Cash Rewards improve their service. This might help us get more rewards.

The survey itself was fairly quick and easy. Most of the questions were multiple choice, but there were two questions where I was able to say what I liked and didn't like about the service.

Did anyone else receive the survey? What did you think of the wording of the email? What did you think of the survey?

  • Yes, I did it for the iPad…

I did it for the $4

I thought the $4 prizes were sneaky. You need $5 from Cash Rewards in order to redeem so it was interesting that they offered one type of prize that was just below that mark. It felt like a tease, trying to encourage members to make just one more purchase to get them over the $5 mark.

There are a lot of cashrewards members who get irrationally angry when their 24c reward is delayed, so it is no surprise to me that they have favourites ;-)

For the record, I got no survey so I guess I am not a favourite.

I thought the type of competition was misleading

Email says - If you complete this quick 3 minute questionnaire, you’ll be entered into a draw to win one of 351 prizes
After the survey it reveals actually, 25 words or less, best answers win prizes.

There is a big difference between a game of chance and a game of skill. I don't have the inclination to sit around and dream up limericks about cashrewards. I wouldn't have completed the survey if I had known it was a 25 words or less competition, I hate those

    • I wondered about that last question.

I've seen other companies do that with their feedback surveys. The competition isn't for doing the feedback survey, it's for how well you answer the last question in 25 words or less. I've sent really negative feedback to companies who use that tactic and refused to do later feedback surveys due to that condition.

I didn't put anything really creative in the last question but my answer might be simle enough that I have an outside chance of getting the $4 prize. I guess a lot will depend on how many entries they get.

I got really good at winning Coles/flybuys competitions where they were offering 1000 free products. It was a 25 words or less question but it didn't seem to matter what you answered, the majority of people who entered won a free product.

      I do.

There once was a person from Nantuckit
Who used cash rewards to purchase a bucket
      After 6 months had passed
      They couldn't be arsed
So they gave up of the rebate and decided ….

  • Andrew here from Cashrewards. We've just identified an issue whereby a small number of our members received multiple surveys. Im really sorry about this glitch. Please forgive us and just to let you know if you do go ahead and complete the email more than once you will still be entered in the competition to win an iPad air.

    • I clicked on one of the links in the email which said something like, "Where did you go" and it took me to the survey. As I'd already completed the survey by then I backed out and didn't complete the survey a second time.

Would you please clarify the issue of how you are going to decide the winners of the competition?

Is it a random draw competition or is it a skill competition based on the answer to the last question?

See my comments above about what I think of feedback surveys/competitions where the competition is based on the answer to one specific question.

We are running a game of skill, the winner will be selected based on the person who provides the best answer to the final question. Any other queries let me know and ill find out tomorrow from the competition organiser.

        • If you are going to use this tactic in future survey/competition emails, please make it obvious in the email that the competition is going to be based on the answer to a particular question rather than just a random draw chance as thanks for filling out the feedback survey. If you don't do this the email could be seen as deceptive. It would also be good to provide a link to the terms and conditions of the competition in the survey email.

        • Your email clearly states

If you complete this quick 3 minute questionnaire, you’ll be entered into a draw to win one of 351 prizes including an iPad Air 2

Nothing about a game of skill

        • @horice:

Very good pick up. A "draw" implies random chance rather than skill.
