… which means you can price-beat it at Masters (and +10% discount if you're lucky)

    • If you're lucky? Don't they have a 10% price beat guarantee, or is a vacuum cleaner considered an appliance? Technically you could buy the Dyson at $299 at Masters then enact the price beat if they're not willing to take 10% off the price.

Edit: It is considered an appliance.

      • Yep, hence the 'lucky' part re: appliances.

    • masters only match electrical items not beat by 10%

  • Masters also has a 5% off for signing up for newsletter,

      This isn't Masters.

      • Sorry was meant to be a reply to this

        cheaper than masters

Was editing the comment as you replied haha

  • Or you could get it from Masters @ $299 and buying it using Woolworths 5% off egiftcard from Cashrewards? Which brings it down to $284.05. If you buy it through their website, you get another 2% cashback.

    • Yep and also get 5% off for signing up a new account and newsletter as per the comment above.

      • nope, in the fineprint '^5% off excludes appliances.'

  • how long the battery can last on full charge?

    • With a full charge, it will allow me to vacuum about 100 m2 thick carpet, plus about 50 m2 tiles and still got battery left. However if using MAX mode then it will stop in the middle. Hope this helps.

Max mode - 8mins take 3.5hrs to charge

    • 20 mins

How is this compared to V6? I remember last eBay deal had V6 for around the same price?

    • I would like to know as well.

    • I have the V6 and I love it, but to my understanding it's identical in terms of power on normal use, however the V6 has slightly more power on boost mode (which I rarely use anyway).

It's one of my favourite purchases ever as it's so easy to use without having to plug in to a power-point like a traditional vacuum cleaner.

I got the V6 for $320 from last year.

DC45 is very similar to V6, the only difference is the boost mode as mentioned earlier.

Never use my corded vacuum anymore.

        • +1 me too… got it when it was $320. So handy and at this price totally essential.

    • In max mode, they are similar. In normal mode, the v6 has a stronger suction and battery last longer.

      • I believe they're both 28AW of normal suction.

DC45 has 65AW on Boost whereas the V6 has 100AW on Boost.

They both have 20 minutes of normal use and the DC45 has 8 minutes on Boost, while the V6 only has 6 minutes on Boost.

Price match it at David Jones, then use an Amex to get a further $40 off. That's what I did for my new DC 58 - pricematched from $399 to $276, with $40 back it's $236.

needs to be DJS online to price match you have to call and its putt though manually and registers as an in store purchase - have tried before no dice

      • Fortunately they have done it for you - it is $299 on DJ online (not quite $297 but still good value)

      • was about to ask the same question Out of stock on DJ!

        • Ungh was just about to order

      • No it doesn't. I have price matched in store many times. Link here https://www.davidjones.com.au/Our-Promise

"Our Promise is to offer competitive prices and match those of Australian retail stores and their online sites. Should you find a lower price for the same product elsewhere, we’ll happily match it."

Nothing about only matching online. All I've had to do is show them the online price on my phone and they've happily matched.

        • you misunderstand the issue is not the price match its that when they do they process the sale manually and hence it is not recorded by amex as an online purchase

This is $299 at DJ + 6% Cash Back (cash rewards) + $40 Amex cash back. Should be ~$241-06

  • How long does the battery last in terms or durability?
Would I need to replace the battery after 2 years before its stop holding a decent charge?
if so, how much to replacements cost?

    • google it or ask dyson :)

      • Already did. No information. That the problem with these battery operated devices. They only last as long as the inbuilt battery lasts.

        • Because its a open ended question, lifetime of the battery depend on how you use it and how many times you recharge it.

Battery is around $50 according to google.

  • FYI for those who are looking at spending $$ on dyson cordless vacs. The new v8 is being released that seems to have quite a number of improvements. I only mention it, because of the new features/improvement it has over the v6 which might just be worth the extra $ it costs.

    • or wait for v12

      • I'm waiting for the v20 ;)

I've got this from when it was about $250 at Masters and I can confirm it sucks. And by that I mean it sucks fairly OK. Not the best sucking I've had, like for instance my corded one sucks much better. But the flexibility in sucking with this is excellent. It keeps sucking and sucking for about 20 minutes which is more than enough time on one charge.

They also had a pack of 4 sucking attachments at HN the other week (posted on here) and they added some nice things to the sucking repertoire.

    TL;DR it's worth getting.

    • i wanted to respond with something witty… but i have nothing :(

    • Your post initially almost sounded like the product "sucks", but as I read through it's all about sucking with all the sucking attachments plus your experience on sucking per charge. I didn't know it sucks so well. I'm prepared to buy one to suck as much as yours and compare it against my corded Dyson to see if it really sucks better. I hope it sucks and sucks long enough with no disappointments.

  • Do these stick vacs replace traditional vacs?

    • +1

No unless you can vacuum your entire home in 15 minutes or less.

For a single bedroom carpeted apartment or 2 br hardfloor maybe.

I use as a fun between standard vacuum navigation

  • Thanks. My current vac just broke. Ended up getting this. Seems like it would be much easier for quick little vacuums, which is what we seem to do.

They gave it to me for 285. Had a $20 off voucher too.
