  • Well that's convenient! Cheers.

  • just in time for season 4 of Wentworth on May 10.

  • I smell whitebait

      Is Raveen a rep?

      • +7

Nah - 2 weeks of free drama = 3 eps of GoT = signing up to watch the remainder…

      • +1

        Here we go again.

        No. I'm a subscriber.

  • +24

When they stop charging for HD content then i'll be interested, until then its Channel Torrent for me

    • +23

I'm sure you'll find another excuse should HD be included in the standard price.

      • +9

        Yeah you are probably right

        • +10

Their ridiculous pricing or recycled scheduling would be my next bet. All valid excuses.

        • -1

@rorymeister: How about pirating is more convenient, no ads and it's free lel …

      • +2

It's OK, pirates spend more money on media than non-pirates.

    • +5

ring up and have a whinge, threaten to cancel and they'll give you HD free.

      I don't pay for HD.

      • +1

last time I tried they gave me nought, I only have a basic package these days

      • It's definitely worth asking. Their retention team can do great deals if you threaten to cancel.

    • +1

It's 2016. YouTube has been letting us upload 4k content for free for years now.

    • Pff. Even then. I'm only interested in motorsport now that 10/One has abandoned us but I still cannot justify a minimum of $60p/m (base package + sports pack + ability to record when races are middle of the night) for only the channel 506 (and, granted sometimes 505).

And even then, yes, it's in crappy blurry quality.

I wish I had the power to get everyone to boycott Foxtel completely and force a re-think of their consumer model, but while they have the exclusive rights to GoT, F1/V8s there will always be customers willing to pay unfortunately. (And that's nothing personal I realize for most of you this is all well within your budget so go for it)

For me personally it's a sad state when competition is quashed with exclusive deals so these prices will remain high, and people will continue to pay.

I moved address and they added HD without me asking.
I told them after a month when I was billed and they sent an email confirming my new package without HD.
I emailed to complain about being charged (as they refused to sort it over the phone) and have heard nothing for a month.
My new bill has HD on it again for next month.. useless

TLDR… Foxtel don't know their arse from their elbow.

    • -7

Lol why would you tell them you were getting free HD? When we first signed up for Foxtel in like 2002, they gave us a month trial of the movies package, which lasted for two years.

      • +2

I think smashed's point was they were being charged for HD, despite having not requested it (in the first instance) then asking for it to be removed (in the second).

If Foxtel instead had simply removed the charge for HD while leaving the capability, I don't think they'd be complaining.

        • +1

Correct. They added it and charged me.

I would assume that Foxtel are giving free drama out to hook customers who may well cancel as soon as EPL finishes in a couple of weeks (given that Optus take it going forward).

I watched The Walking Dead on Foxtel and it was a horrible experience. The resolution for SD is pretty crappy, plus the show started late as there were ads running for about 5 minutes (and I think there was an ad in the middle of it too). Contrast that to a nice 720p rip which is hands down a faster, easier and more immersive way to watch the show and I think I will pass on Foxtel ruining Game of Thrones with an inferior experience.

    • +2

Everything is SD is 'pretty crappy'. That's a given. That's why people subscribe to the HD pack.

    • are 720p torrent downloads better than foxtel quality ?

  • +9

People still have Foxtel these days?

    • +1

Yep, 3 months free thanks to ozbargain!

    • +4

When Netflix shows live Formula 1 I'll cancel my subscription

      • I'd settle for MotoGP

        • +1

          Oh yes

    • +7

Still the only real option for sports nuts like myself

  • +2

Classic tactic, try and get you hooked so you sign up for extra channels

  • Thanks a heap :)

  • In case anyone is wondering…

It costs $20/month to add the drama pack to your package.
I just looked it up :)

  • +2

Thanks, but I'll still be cancelling in a few weeks once the premier league has finished :)

    • +1

      what about Euro 16?

  • excluding Optus TV feat Foxtel customers…

    • The foxtel go is excluded to optus tv but I believe the channel should be opened up for optus tv

  • +2

Pay for TV? Maybe when it didn't have ads I would. In fact I did. But that was 20 years ago now :D

  • awesome! just when i wanted to watch the walking dead season 6 and i dont have the drama pack

  • awesome! just when i wanted to watch the walking dead season 6 and i dont have the drama pack

  • Not that I'm opposed to free content, but are these channels HD? I was happy at the thought of being able to watch some new GoT easily on Foxtel but if it's SD I'll just download it instead.

    • are 720p torrent downloads better than foxtel quality ?

    • For me, they play worse than SD - and I have a >100 connection. Stuttering, pixellated and audio getting out of sync. Worse on computer (ugh silverlight) but still there on an iPad Pro. Netflix and Stan play perfectly by comparison. And you can't airplay to a big TV. Utter, utter rubbish. I'm cancelling my trial.

      • I couldnt beleive how bad the quality was on foxtel go it looks like im watching in 360p and i have a decent connection stan and netflix play smoothly in HD

  • Drama channels are now working on our IQHD but not through Foxtel Go. Anyone else having issues?

    • yeah im having the same problem the drama channels arnt working on foxtel go ! just when i wanted to start GOT

  • foxtel go drama channels not working anyone know how to fix this ? its working on my foxtel iq box

    • Are you through Telstra? We are and I'm wondering if that's why - no mention of an exclusion in the ad though

      • yes iam thats so unfair if telstra customers cant access it on foxtel go !

        • I agree but they are impossible to talk to about Foxtel issues!

        • @reneecatherine: have you tried the drama packs on foxtel anytime on the iqbox ? does that work ?

        • @nnolan: I haven't but I just logged out and logged back in for the second time today and it is now working! I spoke with Telstra who have said it is not excluded so should work and if it doesn't to jump on chat and they'll fix it. Try logging out and back in!

        • @reneecatherine: thanks il try logging in and out a few times

  • Is anyone having problems with it not working on there IQ box foxtel anytime isnt working on mine :(
