Worth going to Dick Smith final day?

Now the final days have been announced what's happening on these last days?

List here - http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2016/04/all-dick-smith-stores-w…

Crazy discounts on what little remains, or just closing the doors at closing time like another day?

As a few stores have already closed what has happened at these?

  • Uh, customers leave, the lights go off, the staff exit, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its den, and winter weather will persist for six more weeks.

(Nothing precludes the shops from closing sooner and I haven't heard of any that were extended).

    tl;dr? They closed.

Worth it, if it is on the way, or you have got nothing else better to do. Most time I went to their store, it has been a waste of time and fuel.

Their prices is wonky to begin with, so even if they are on special/sale, often the case you can get it elsewhere for cheaper + you don't have to deal with DS BS.

If you need something and they got it, you need to weigh up the pro/con yourself.

    In other words, it depends.

Personally, I will probably go there along the last days with friends just for the laugh.

Unless you want phone cables and other left over cables (the ones no one wanted), iphone cases etc then probably not.

Fixtures, phone cases, phone cables, some obscure batteries and a few DS branded giant teles that are still only 20% off.

If you want any of that, go. If not, don't bother.

I think the decent stuff never really went on sale - went back to suppliers and/or auction houses.

It was the stuff that no one wanted that is being flogged to mugs anonymous.

  • I was at the Eastland store on Sunday.
All crap tht no one else wants was there. You can buy a display case if you want lol.

I went in to a few today. Big ass empty room with iPhone cases, store fixtures and still overpriced HDMI cables. There was a single TV $200 off and still $400 expensive. Not worth it.

I have been to 4 stores now…all empty bar unwanted phone cases.

    I'm done looking

    Avoid like the plague
Went last week and almost got into a fight with a crazy.
Then bought the thing I was after at the good guys for less than the dick price.
The whole saga is a lesson in a waste of time and money

  • I checked out the sydney cbd store today.

Lots of DS tvs, phone cases and car chargers. Some mobiles and headphones left but not sure what/price.

had a few coffee machines still ridiculously overpriced.

  • Guys all stock from smaller stores will be generally transferred (non-defects) to the larger stores that close in May so no good discounts. On the last day there will be a limited amount of stock reduced to less than street price levels (ie. EBay, top buy etc.) As is branded stock is generally bad value. Worth going on the last day to larger region stores. Unfortunately I will be flying interstate for a job interview, so devastated.

I bought a Polar Loop fitness watch for $17.90 which was 90% off DSE overpriced original price but still way cheaper than other stores still selling in the $100+ range…and got a Sony Xperia Z4 for $25.00 from $125 whichis great as a back up emergency phone.
Otherwise it was phone cases and fixtures.

    • Was this the last day? 90% seems a lot. I was there during the infamous December sale of inventory and there was 90% off as well, but thought these receivers weren't going to touch 90% based on the MOVE stores final discounts being 80% on stock at the final close of trade on the stock realisation date. Maybe the area manager had discretion and pulled the price down to 90%. And do you mean the C4? Because the Xperia Z4 was just a tablet I believe…

  • I've grabbed 2x 2M USB B to USB A cable for $1. Two DS I've been to were mostly empty though with tonnes of crappy cases, not sure whether it's worth going there.

  • Had a look at the altona gate store last week. They had a lot of stock, but most of the big brand, big ticket items that were heavily discounted seemed to have gone already. Like others say here, probably mostly good for odds and ends before the administrators ditch it all.
