We are a young couple with a ten months baby, looking to buy a new/demo SUV With following criteria.
- 5 seater
- Budget around $40K
- Preferably sunroof (wife's recommendation)
- Preferably AWD (my preference :) )
I am currently thinking of Rav4 or Forester but I don't mind any model as long as I can get most value out of it.
I have driven 2015 rav4 from my workplace. It looks very classic. Interior still looks like old car. Reverse camera never worked for me. So I am not that much impressed with it.
Forester - there are a lot of bad feedback of dealers, servicing and repair price.
Any feedback, recommendation is highly appreciated.
Probably need a bit more info for people to offer better advice. eg: driving patterns, will it mostly just be the three of you or will you carry more passengers/luggage?
If it's just city driving and 1 car seat plus pram, you may want to look at City SUVs like the Suzuki Vitara. Base model comes in well under budget, so you could trick it out nicely with remaining $

If you plan to have more kids and/or transport luggage/people, you may want to opt for the larger SUVs like the Kia Sorrento (http://www.kia.com.au/cars/suv/sorento/2015). This thing is almost as big as a people mover! Comes in over budget when new, you may be able to squeak in within budget when 2nd hand / ex-demo
If you want to offroad, then someone else will have to give you that advice. My previous car was an AWD SUV, bought it thinking I would go offroad at some point in the future. 12 years later, I've never taken it offroad lol
