NBN Connection - Retirement Village Kincumber

Hi All, hope you can help me.

My mum is going into a retirement village (apartment) and needs the phone connected. As the area is NBN ready she has to have NBN connection.

We ordered through Telstra and they say the line is ready. I have to assume that the whole complex is NBN ready as there has been no box installed in the unit.

Do apartments need individual boxes to the node ?

There are 4 phone ports in the unit anyway to determine the primary port (Active) or do I need to connect the modem to each port to determine it ?

Is there anyway of testing the line (I have been given a phone number) to ensure it is connected properly, before driving 2 hours to install the Self Install Kit ?

Any help greatly appreciated

Colin

  • Is it fibre to the home, or to the node?
If the latter, no box needed in the unit, just a VDSL modem.

  • Thanks obudd89 for your reply. I think it is fibre to the node.

  • Individual houses must have the box installed. Not sure about retirement villages.

Why not call the village management they should know. I know of another Village which will have NBN but it was set up like a apartment block, where it was fibre to the basement, from there it used telephone lines (FTTN)
