Your Favourite Green Tea

I have developed a liking for green tea recently. Rather than buying standard ones from Colesworth; would prefer to buy something more authentic, that people can recommend. Can you please recommend your favorite, tried and tested brand and also where can it be bought from? Thank you.

  • The Woolworths home brand is quite reasonable and is my current daytime warm beverage of choice. The Coles Brand is not very good.

Something from the Asian groceries, much authentic tasting than Lipton and the likes.

I get Japanese tea with roasted rice in it. It's meant to be put in a strainer of sorts, I think they're known as tea infusers? I'd advise that over the stuff prepackaged in bags. You can adjust the strength too that way, rather than one bag or double bagged tea.
Bought from an Asian grocer like Ughhh stated.

    • Its called genmaicha or 玄米茶 and they're pretty delicious!

      • Never bothered to read the packet, you're right :)

"Tokuyo Genmaicha" is what I'm getting, brand is I believe Uji no Tsuyu. It's a tall green packet.

  • I get my favourite green tea range from http://maeda-en.com/. Sushi Sushi franchise used this brand's green tea bags before they moved to having their own (which is not as good IMO). I also get their premium tea leaves for those more exquisite tea appreciation moments.

There's shipping costs involved buying from this USA based site but I tend to stock up when they have sales on so I don't buy regularly.

I don't seem to be able to find any Australian suppliers for this brand ( except for the matcha powder range) perhaps I haven't looked hard enough and would appreciate if anyone here have any information.

Highly recommend the Costco Kirkland signature matcha tea. Easy to brew comes in tea bags.

It's sourced from Japanese green tea giant Ito-En and it tastes just like the green tea I have in Japan (I go there every year or two)
