Hey folks this a remake of a Budgetlightforum made light the x5 this torch has the same specs and same maker just sold now under a different name now! For the price you cant beat the output but it does work on a lithium ion 14500. Great mode selections and super small and quite a good thrower for its size i have the X5 and i can vouch for it. it puts a grin on my face but you will need a 14500 IMR cell. this light is very high tech don't let the price fool you!

The link says usual price is $78 aussie dollars….

  • I've got a couple of Keeppower 14500's. Given they are protected cells, do you know how close would they get to being able to push it to 1400lm? Also, no sub-lumen mode makes me sad.

    • How many amps are they rated to do continously?
Even my Sony 14500 protected Cells go good I got 4 amps out of my Aw cells

  • +1

    how much are the batteries?

    • +1

      And where to get them?

      • Have you both used lithiums before? Do you own a multi-meter?

        • +2

          do i need a multi-meter to use a torch?

        • @millusions: to make sure the batteries are charged at the right voltage so they don't explode and burn your house down.

        • @Flying Ace:

        • +2

@aussieprepper: Cool. So an added feature of this high tech torch is it might explode.

        • @aussieprepper:
With protected cells and a decent charger it is quite safe without a multimeter right? (good charger or torch can indicate remaining voltage)

        • @millusions: not if you use a non-shithouse battery charger.

        • +2

@thelastnoob: I would still prefer a multimeter to check…my nitecore D4 under charges by 0.2 volts and my nitecore um20 over charges a tiny bit 0.2 so even the best chargers need a checking. Then you turn into me and start secind guessing your multimeter

        • @aussieprepper: so what do you do if charger is out, bin it or can they be calibrated?

        • @wattstar: it really depends on the charger. Is it expensive? How much is out by? Can it be adjusted that usually mean changing values in resistors.
My klarus ch1 is out by ahout 0.10 so it may charge to 4.30 volts

  • can you run normal AA's in them and still get light?

    • +2

      Nah voltage is to low.

      • thanks aussieprepper, looks like a very decent light running on 14500. It's good there is a 3B tint as well.
I was looking at the Nitecore EA11 or the Nitecore MT10A, but didn't like the tint. However, it's good those two can run on AA batteries

        • Hey mate you can run both those lights on AA but they will run really bad. Nitecore have some lights in different tints. I'll try my x5 when I get home but im sure the low voltage protection will kick in. I was going to buy one of these a few weeks ago for a new EDC but they want like $70 but at this price its a must have… These lights don't have steps down its got thermal regulation So only steps down if need be….

        • sorry mate i forgot to check until now
standard AA doesn't even light up the tail cap so no light what so ever

        • @aussieprepper:
Thanks for testing it out, it seems like a really good light from the reviews i have been reading

  • This is probably the best quality light to ever get posted on OZB
