    • First link doesn't work - access denied.

But the second link (to screenshot) works.

      • The first link is unique to the OP, your link will be https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/268266/edit/deals

It's just a direct link to what is shown in the screenshot.

Thanks, hamza, I suspected something along those lines, but I couldn't be sure because I couldn't find JSQUARED's member number on his profile icon.

So, I wasn't sure if he posted the link with his own number as an example, or whether he posted the link with OP's number.

Lol, I was still confused until I re-read your reply again and noticed that you said the link was unique to the OP, but initially I couldn't find OP's number either, so I wasn't sure to whom the link belonged.

But, like I said, after rereading your reply I think I got it now, I'll just have to use it for a while (whether I need it or not) until it becomes second nature, because I think it will soon become my favourite site feature.

So, thanks again for clarifying it for me, and for doing it so fast too - less than 10 minutes!

Ps. Oh and the link you posted, to my options page, love it! Just what I was looking for.

Pps. How I never noticed it, after looking for this very thing in my options so many times, is beyond me.

I take it back, I did not explored the options well. Thanks for the links :)

  • This setting has no effect on links below:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/popular

    Expired deals are shown.

    • That setting mentioned is for front page deals only, basically so you can glance at OzBargain from time to time with only active deals shown. It probably wouldn't be the best idea to make a site-wide option to hide all expired deals, it would basically mean that any deal expired would be invisible. Expired deals can still have value to check back on comments, information or follow up if something goes wrong etc.

The popular deals section you mention has it's own checkbox for 'Hide expired deals' on the right. When you click that checkbox it will give you this URL https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/popular?days=30&noexpired… as an example - you could bookmark that for direct access to popular deals with expired deals hidden.

    Thanks brilliant 😄

  • This actually is not a very good solution from a UX perspective. Why does the user need to login to hide expired deals? This should not be the case.

Instead there should be a simple toggle button on each results page to hide/show expired deals. This should be present for all users, regardless of whether or not the user is logged in. This way the a logged in user can also quickly toggle the visibility of the expired deals, while guests can have access to the show/hide expired deals functionality.

This toggle would still require a GET request to retrieve the results, it just needs to pass the boolean value of getExpired.
