Pledge For A "Requested By OP" Report Tab!

Hi Ozbargainers,

I have reported to the moderators to remove the deal because I requested so and it takes up a bit of time to explain

So why don't we just get a "Requested By OP/Commenter" tab

LET US VOTE!

    Meh, other is good enough :)

  • I don't think "Requested by OP" should even be a valid reason to remove a deal. Who cares if you get a few negs? They aren't a personal attack on the OP and the discussion can be useful for future deals.

      There's various reasons for doing it. Could be that the price is a standard price, could be the price isn't the best price, could be that you stuffed up… That's just off the top of my head lol
      As much as people like to think that negative comments can't be brushed off, too many just get to you. Sure, it's the internet and all that, but it's not like the general members are getting paid to post. Most will research before posting anyway, but yeah sometimes ya just stuff up!

      • We won't remove any deals that have a certain amount of meaningful comments/votes or have been posted for a certain amount of time. We understand that deals can be 'stuffed up' as you say but at the same time don't want a user requesting removal after some time just because it's not a great deal or not going as well as they thought.

        With that in mind and in regards to the original post request: We don't want to encourage the removal of deals by making a dedicated report reason for it, nor is it something that users are doing often so the 'other' option will do the job. Furthermore creating an option of 'Requested by OP' may incorrectly give users the impression that they are able to delete deals at anytime without a valid reason when that is not the case.

        • Good explanation.

          Thought I think Mods should remove it when it clearly isn't the lowest price around or the very least have a disclaimer letting people know.

          @GameChanger:

          Thats what a negative vote is for.

          @Spackbace: With all the rules in casting a negative vote, it doesn't stand and so many are mislead.

          @GameChanger: that's sort of the point of this site - to find the lowest price (all other things considered - e.g. shipping time, company reputation, etc).

          If the OP posts a deal and then get negged because someone else (e.g. Bob) posts a link to a reasonably cheaper deal then the OP should change the post to the new deal and acknowledge the source of the lower price (Thanks Bob for pointing out a less expensive alternative).

          perhaps a report-button-drop-down-choice which says something like "negged for lower price/ deal updated" and mods then can remove the neg vote - but leave the comment. or Bob is able to remove their neg them selves (but sometimes they might not log on for a while so the neg would stay against an "improved deal" -hence the mod option.

          A neg vote isn't always a bad thing - sometimes it is constructive criticism.
