My understanding is if I need to connect 2 monitors, I need a graphic card having 2 ports. Most laptops nowadays only have 1 HDMI port. Can someone recommend a laptop with 2 ports please? Under $500 would be great, thanks.
Looking for a working (mainly web, word and sublime ) laptop which can connect to 2 monitors

Only if it's a ultraportable / ultrabook, but many laptops including budget consumer ones have VGA as default
Even the super-budget HP 250 G4 has HDMI plus VGA

I understand that you think sublime is "da thing" but you will want a vagrant / docker machine soon and when you get into virtualization is hard to go back.
Err what. Most laptops has TWO ports, one hdmi, one vga. The better ones add DP.
