Robbie Katter I guess….Nice work Uber!

  • It's for Adelaide

Enter code "iknownobody" to pay RRP.

  • Awesome! Never seen a voucher this high. Great for Adelaide as we only have UberBLACK.

  • +4

I don't know Robbie, so I don't feel comfortable name dropping him for $40.

  • Does Adelaide have UberX now?

    • uberX driver meeting this thursday. I'd say it will kick off on 1 July

      • @Matt P what do you mean by this?

        • There is a meeting between Uber and registered UberX drivers in Adelaide this coming thursday. Safe guess is that it would be to advise the plan for Launching UberX locally

        • @Matt P: So they have drivers already registered even though the service isn't actually legal until July 1?

        • @realfancyman:

They were running drivers in Sydney long before it became legal there..

        • +1

@realfancyman: They have done promotional work with free rides, paying the drivers an hourly rate. Only during special events such as the fringe. The intention being getting cars and drivers set up and running for when UberX launches

      • Time for taxi cimmision to come and photo every plate number for future fines.

        • lol yeah ok

Ride sharing is legal in SA from 1 July.

Stop renting your taxi and drive for yourself.

    • It's legal as of July 1 but Uber is apparently not sure whether it will set up here.

    Has anyone tried Melbourne?

    • +1

I think it would work as long as you setup a new account/are a new user.

  • Damn my first ride was yesterday, wouda coulda came in handy ..

    • Think there's a way you can claim the first ride again. Someone on Ozbargain used to have a loophole

      • link if anyone finds it?

    Does Uber hate loyal customers?

    • +1

No it just likes new customers like every other business

    • There's no point having loyal customers if they cost you money every time they ride. Since the driver gets paid ~80% of the fare, a $40 ride is a $32 loss for Uber, which for a new signup is known as a customer aquisition cost. This is a metric they most certainly keep track of, and evidently they're happy with that being about $32 (though as they expand into cities they tend to cut it back, I notice most uber codes are now $20).

  • How do these vouchers work? Can I sign up right now and save it to an account for later use? Or do I have to use it pretty much straight away?

    • No they have an expiry date on them and you don't have to use it straight away

  • +2

Just tried to register - says code has expired

    • same here.. 30 sec ago…

  • My code disappeared :S

    Is this normal ?

  • +1

    robbie has left the building

  • I managed to add the code to a new Uber account but now when I go to promotions in the app, it's gone. Why ?

    • Anyone ?

      • yeah my code disappeared as well. I didn't even get to use it. Weird.
