4G to LAN device? Can't get Internet. Vividwireless service degrading

Hi
Looking for a 4G to LAN device to replace a vividwireless box on occasions my internet goes really bad (which is every few days).
This Cradlepoint COR IBR350 was recommended o/seas - but I don't see it in AU.

I have heard that vividwireless (who has not invested any $$$ since Optus acquired it for the massive spectrum it held (bandwidth in the air). If anything, they were hoping customers would leave, not realising how many are "last resort buyers", especially in WA. With a steady or very slowly declining user base, and the steady increase in average data consumption per users, the actual per user experience is degrading rapidly as everyone consumes more from a fixed pipe (and stepped down maintenance)… ( I used to get 3 - 5mb/s…. I now often get dial-up speeds - and I wish that was an overstatement!!!! Pings go from 69ms to 999ms)

Any ideas? Will be buying a prepaid data SIM to put in and just replace the vivid box with the 3G SIM on the WAN LAN cable as needed.

I have a Netgear R7000 and from all the reading I have done it does not support USB 3G/4G device.

thx

    Dovado device (http://www.dovado.com/en/products) + USB modem or a r00ter + USB modem (https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/router_openwrt)

    • Thanks BDL

      Are you saying ditch the R7000 and replace with the Dovado? Seems even the Tiny has wifi so it would be a redundant feature if I kept the R7000?

      I should add the vividwireless box has its WIFI turned OFF and acts as a dumb internet provider to the R7000 (and the rest of my home/LAN) via Ethernet cable

      VIVIDWIRELESS TOWER —-> VIVIDWIRELESSBOX ——> LAN1 ——-> R7000 WAN —— R7000 R00ter —-> Local LAN/WIFI.

        Looks like here is a list of places you can get the Dovado from:
        http://www.wififreedom.com.au/content/where-purchase

        Then change setup from:

        VIVIDWIRELESS TOWER —-> VIVIDWIRELESSBOX ——> LAN1 ——-> R7000 WAN —— R7000 R00ter —-> Local LAN/WIFI.

        To:

        VIVIDWIRELESS TOWER —-> Dovado(+USB) ——> WAN PORT ——-> R7000 WAN —— R7000 R00ter —-> Local LAN/WIFI.

        You will have to do your own testing to see if you prefer the R7000 wireless or the Dovado wireless coverage/speed/reliability though. You can always run them as 2 separate SSIDs to switch between though. If you got the Dovado tiny it only has the single WAN port so if you want to connect more than one device to ethernet you need to keep your R7000 going.

    I've done this many times for work purposes. I can give you the cheapest way and few different more expensive methods which gives the same outcome.
    This is the cheapest no- frills method and all parts are readily available to be purchased online and over the counter.
    TP-Link TL-MR3020 - $37 at CPL (mind you this is for 4G—> LAN only. It has built in WiFi but not the best out there being only 802.11N 150Mbps)
    Telstra Netgear/Sierra Wireless 320U USB 4G - These were readily available a while back now only limited to Bigpond prepaid as they are promoting 4G WiFi hotspots instead of these. But you can still purchase from a Telstra store/eBay etc.)

    320U USB -> TP-Link TL-MR3020 -> R7000 WAN

    This setup works well and I have sites operating on this combination for over an year without losing a beat.

    If you are after a more elegant solution there is a less known device for reasonable $$ - TP-Link Archer MR200 AC750 Wireless Dual Band 4G LTE Router
    This has a built in 4G SIM slot and no USB modems are required. Could be bought for less than $200 (https://www.pccasegear.com/products/33370?gclid=Cj0KEQjwx7u5…). If you are going down this path this will be complete replacement for vivid wirless box and R7000, no usb modems, no WAN ports required. Simply plug in all LAN devices you already have on vivid and you are good to go.

    But if you prefer keeping the R7000 for its superior wifi and other features you can still do this

    TP-Link Archer MR200 -> R7000 WAN

    ** Before doing any of the above please verify that you can get 4G in your area as all the time and $$ you are putting in would go to waste otherwise.

    • Thank you @websterp

      This is exactly what I was after. (USB+LAN)
      Yes, can get 4G - I have clear line of site to two towers - so other than congestion (a factor), it works.

      I prefer to keep the R7000 as I am using it as 2.4G/5G LAN gbit switch and DHCP etc etc Has been one of the better wifi boxes for my home (altought I see reviews says range average, it has been great here. My neighbour has a stupid db gain on his antennas as I pick up his signal pretty strong!
