[OzBargain Decides] TheIconic.com.au Order-screw-up Poll

Back story:
I bought shoes from this deal and have yet to receive my order. I received this lazily written email today (sent along with a ticket number, as if I had contacted them)

Hi David,

Thank you for contacting us at THE ICONIC.

Just an update for your order 207919713.

We just wanted to confirm if you did receive this package? If by any chances that you still haven't received this order. Would you still want to receive it?

Kind regards,
Angelito

THE ICONIC

I groaned at the idea of dealing with their customer service, but then thought of doing this poll, so I wouldn't have to!

Dear OzBargain community, I sent a link to this poll to their customer service. The option with the most votes at the end of this poll (on Thursday night) should be taken as my official response. Thanks everyone.

P.S. I think it would be cool if ozbargain had a dedicated section for decision polls like this (if they don't already).

Humanity has fought so much and hard for freedom. To celebrate it, we let internet strangers make decisions for us and tell us what to do.

crap, I pressed +ve instead of -ve. You are insane.

  • Have they provided a tracking number?

    • Nope

      • To whoever down voted me, really, I haven't been given any tracking number. Why is that a problem?

am i the only one who thinks OP is being petty?

first of all, they sent you an email (personalised, no less) - which is more than i can say for most retailers. Ticket numbers are for retailers to track each case - you don't have to contact them first to get one.

i'm having a hard time understanding how anyone could get offended by an email like this. Amazon has stuffed up my order in the past but do you think i got a politely-worded email asking me if i've received the right goods?

and jesus, creating a poll for this… I can't even.

    • how anyone could get offended by an email like this

      Millennials

Also a question to the OP:

I received this lazily written email

How is that email lazy? Maybe I'm too busy to be reading long emails but that email is straight to the point. Do you expect a 5000 word essay?

      • That may have been poorly worded. What I meant is that it comes off like they can't be bothered processing my order any further (almost like they're hesitant to even offer) until I give confirmation that I still do want the item.

Also, it's beyond me why they're asking me whether I've received anything. Its been a week since i ordered and my order status still says 'processing', and I never received any emails to inform me that my order was dispatched (hence, no tracking number).

I'm not sure about petty. Could be just indecisive and looking for support. Though I am confused about how much outrage the OP has:

I want my order, and an apology while you're at it (SEND)

If the OP is so outraged to demand an apology it sounds weird to leave it to strangers to tell you that you're wrong and should contain the outrage.

I'd like to see another poll answer: Hire law firm. Demand the business send out the package. Buy airfare to fly the package in person to business then light the package on fire and dance over its ashes. Post video on YouTube.

      • bikies?

      • Damn, that's a pretty good poll option. Unfortunately it doesn't allow any changes after posting the poll (although mods can make changes if requested).

You're actually right about me just being indecisive, as opposed to outraged. I had a feeling people might vote for whichever option sounded more entitled (we all love the idea of power being in the hands of the consumer), so I felt that me simply asking for my order was going to be the less popular answer.

With the way people are voting, I might have made it sound too demanding…
