Acorns - The Investment App - Useful? Can Anyone Share Their Experience?

Hi Guys
I know that there have been some previous discussions on this topic of Investment i.e.

How Would You Invest $1000?

Best Way to Invest $1000

In my case it's around $5K or more for investment but not for long term.

I have read Acorns Fee and policies etc. Just need some experienced thought on Acorns, if anyone can share and vouch for them ?
Where should I invest (Other than Bank Savings Accounts) for short term say 1 year ?
Any help would be Appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

They are so new here I doubt many here would have much experience. If you are signing up at least consider using the referral to get $2.50 for free.

On a related note, I was looking through forum threads on similar apps. Two of them were posted last year — FirstSte and SnapSave. Neither is going anywhere. Acorns is a bit different — it's an international company with a big team and quite a bit of funding. However the risk is always there.

    • Thanks for suggestion. Will keep in mind.
Seems like I should look elsewhere though.

I rate Acorns for their "Round-Up" feature which is a great for forced savings.

The other good thing is that regular deposits make it great for dollar cost averaging.

If you're looking at a single $5K deposit approach, it might not be best for you, but I've gotten around 3.5% over the last 4 months from it…

I use it, It rounds up all the spending from my amex cards and puts it in when it reaches $5, I also throw $100 a week at it.

  • I've been using it since February this year seems okay. Just checked and so far change in value has been 5.38% on aggressive mode :)
