Dyson DC45 Users, Any Good for Carpet?

Anyone got a dc45 and can give me an opinion if it's any good for carpet?

  • We've got a bigger Dyson we pull out occasionally as a thorough clean, and then run the DC45 a few times a week to stay tidy. It cleans carpet fine. Depending on how thorough you're being and how big your house is, you probably won't cover everywhere in the house in one charge.

    • I do the same and the combo works perfectly. The DC45 does spot cleans and we'll drag the big Dyson out once a month or so.

Definately no regrets getting the DC45!

      • plus another one. Our stick vac is used almost exclusively downstairs (mostly tile with one rug and carpeted lounge room) and on the stairs (carpet). Upstairs is all carpet so is usually done with the barrel Dyson. Having said that the upstairs is undergoing renovations and hasn't been fully vacc'd for months, but the upright Dyson I found on the side of the road (in the rain) has been working a treat on all sorts of building detritus, plaster, sawdust, hooked up to the drop saw etc. Saves the 'good' vac!

        • Some poor bloke was vacuuming his car, goes to the toilet and bang Dyson is gone

        • @Peanut money: I went past it in the morning, then later that night after it had been raining most of the day and it was still there with some other junk -> Fair game!

Was going to connect it to my workshop vacuum for the cyclone dust separator assuming it was broken, but when I plugged it in it worked.

  • Thanks for the reply, sounds like it will do fine.

    Cheers everyone

  • Yeah not a massive fan of the stick vaccuum for carpet - it does a good job on our hard floors but i prefer to do the rugs using a barrel vac. Definitely gets it cleaner
