USA Flights!

Can anyone find a deal on this? :)
Need to travel the below multi-city flights on the listed dates.

SYD - JFK 24th May 2016
JFK - LAX 5th June 2016
LAX - SYD 14th June 2016

  • Quickest flights preferred (No pit stop in China, ha).
  • JFK - LAX flight preferably between 9.30am - 1pm.

Best I've been able to find is around $1600+

Thanks!

Looks like that's the rough price for those dates - considering it's very short notice.

Best I can find is $1,300 for the 1st and 3rd legs on one ticket on AA.
Then $239 for the 2nd leg on United - or if you have points with any carriers, could try redeem a reward ticket on that flight.

  • Thanks BL5965.

I know, it's not ideal. But dates are fixed unfortunately.

Where did you find the $239 2nd leg flight on United from? And what time is that flight?

It's $239 through Tripsta, or $251 through Expedia if you want a better-known online travel agent. Flight is from EWR 7:59am UA703 (a bit early, I know).

If you really need a flight from JFK, there is Jetblue B6223 departing at 8:20am, $269 through STA travel.

Unfortunately all flights within your preferred period are much more expensive, in the $300+ range.

      • Ah, yes, might be a bit too early.

You do realise how close those dates are to today??

$1600 sounds pretty good to me…

Try the LMTC and last minute.com.au

    • Cheers, I'll check them out.

Have a look at this search…

Seems to indicate that AA, United and Virgin Aus/Delta are only $5 different for the first and third legs (from $1323 to $1328). But it looks like United has the best connection times and the shortest layover for the first leg. United Airlines will also fly you across the Pacific on their Dreamliner (higher cabin pressure, bigger windows, better humidity).

AA flies an older Boeing 777 to Australia

    • Thanks, Dreamliner is tempting, but not a fan of United in general.

For good airlines: Cathay & Emirates. Might not be a good price-deal, but good experience— & for that long of a flight, worth mentioning.

Have a great & safe trip!

    :)

    • Cheers for the advice Geekomatic!

      • You're welcome.

Between me & my kids/friends, we've flown both, every year, since 2007. JFK to Dubai to Perth (Emirates). JFK, HK, Perth, (CP).

Good experiences with both. CP is generally cheaper.

        Enjoy your time away.

        :)
