  • Will this work on a 6yr old mobo?

  • I have read in forums they say with bios mod and converters it may run on mobo Intel 7 series and above. Don't know for sure though or the speed you will get.

    • whats the point. You won't get the full potential of the M.2 capabilities. Just buy a normal sata ssd for that fit purpose.

Not true. PCI-e 3.0 4x to M.2 NVMe adapters are just pin conversion, no signal changes. It's exactly the same speed.

misread the "intel 7 series" with something else. Anyway either way you'd need to pair the MOBO with an IVY bridge cpu to get the pcie3.0 lanes.

        • I may be wrong but my laptop specsheet for Haswell 4th gen says it's pcie3x4.

  • Any 512gb?

  • Received my 512Gb from SE today. Free 2 day delivery vs driving to an MSY outlet. If you work/live near an MSY this is great, but SE is still more convenient IMO.

  • Can I run a PCI Express SSD with a SATA SSD at the same time?

    • +2

Theoretically you should provided you have two slots available. One pcie and one Sata. They don't have to be inbuilt though, you can add converters to existing pcie slot to any type.

    • Yeah no worries but quite a lot of BIOS won't let you boot from the pci express card because it initializes at a later stage of boot than when it performs a drive scan. In that case you either have to somehow setup a boot loader on your sata ssd that points to your pci express one or just boot from your sata one and use the pci for fast storage.

Also a lot of motherboards will disable 2 of the sata ports when connecting an M.2 drive to your PC. Check the manual to see what it states in regards to this.

Got mine today and applied for the rebate. FYI the serial on the box is missing the last character - need to open it and read it off the SSD itself.
