darn was just about to post it, had a full typed up description and everything.

Anyways you'll need to create an account to enter in the promo code.

Also since this promo code takes $15 off for every $100 you spend, add a $1 exercise book to you cart to push your total up to $300, so the promo code will take $45 off rather than $30 off. Final price will be $255, great deal :)

If you want to use these on a hard floor you can either buy the chair with their optional wheels but this adds a long delay and was around $70 from memory or you can buy these wheels from Amazon and fit them instead of the ones that come with the chair. Your hardwood floors are now safe from damage.

The chair posted doesn't come with wheels? The image on the Staples site shows wheels on the bottom of the chair?

      • +2

These are replacement soft wheels so you don't damage your hard floors.

        • Thanks for clarifying. Is there a way to tell if wheels which come with the chair are suitable for hard floors? From the brief description on the site there doesn't seem to be any indication of what surfaces are suitable.

This is also a question for future reference when buying chairs (not just for this one).

The casters that come with the chair are nylon like pretty much every chair unless you specify you want a urethane type of caster. These scratch and slide along hard surfaces like tiles and hardwood floors and dent softwood floors.

You can use a piece of carpet or similiar to protect the floor as long as it has an appropriate backing as the backing of many of them will wear down the coating over time through small movements. Rubber/plastic floor mats are expensive and not always appropriate for hardwood floors.

You can see the type of caster by looking at it otherwise use your fingernail, if it leaves an indentation in the surface it should be safe. You do have to check them from time to time to make sure they don't have a lot of grit on the surface as this will damage the floors, the same applies to nylon as grit can become stuck in that surface as well even though it's a lot harder.

Also check the caster specifications, the size needs to be as close to the original or better. Smaller casters are more prone to tipping the chair over and don't have the same load rating. Larger casters can also be fitted to chairs for specific purposes like softwood floors. The ones I linked to have a really high rating on Amazon and are top quality with a higher load rating than the original ones fitted to this chair, each wheel can handle over 50kg.

        • Thanks so much! Today I learnt!

      • The chair posted doesn't come with wheels? The image on the Staples site shows wheels on the bottom of the chair?

What part of "fit them instead of the ones that come with the chair" is unclear?? Sheesh

        • +1

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I (poorly) assumed all wheels would be find for hard floors.

Why would you bother importing wheels when you can buy them (cheaper) at the local hardware store?

Why would you bother importing wheels when you can buy them (cheaper) at the local hardware store?

Because the one you linked to are rubbish with only a thin covering of rubber, they are the wrong size (50mm instead of 60mm), have half the load rating (reducing the load rating of the chair substantially) and do not last. They're not even that much cheaper, $6.60 x 3 = $19.80 versus around $35 for these.

Who's to say that the Amazon is better or worse? Anyway, the Amazon wheels also use a thin PU "tyre", the same as all castors of that style. Maybe not as noticeable since it's black on black LOL

they are the wrong size (50mm instead of 60mm).

We'll have to take your word for that, as I couldn't find any info on wheel sizes for that chair. 50mm is standard diameter for such wheels, so that's what I guessed that they were.

have half the load rating (reducing the load rating of the chair substantially)

The Bunnings cheapies would be 5 x 25kg = 125kg rated. The chair is not really rated, but they mention 150kg vaguely. Since most users are well under 125kg, I didn't really consider it, however you are correct that the weight rating of the wheels is important.

          and do not last

I'd certainly enjoy reading your product testing methodology, and the results of the tests you've performed to substantiate that statement.

          They're not even that much cheaper, $6.60 x 3 = $19.80 versus around $35 for these.

Well, I certainly consider paying 76% extra as substantial. However, if the wheels required are 60mm then the Amazon ones might be a good deal.

Amazon unlike Bunnings offers the ability for customers to provide feedback, the company that sells these casters has a long history of selling top quality casters. The ones I linked to do not have a thin PU "tyre" as you falsely claim.

50mm is NOT the standard diameter for such wheels, shows how much you know. BTW if you google it's easy to find - for others who are interested it's stated here - http://4dp9opv7rvm23i7bg36zh54x.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-c….

The chair is rated at 150kg. Those cheap casters are rated at 125kg and the chair weighs nearly 20kg so all of a sudden your cheap casters are right on the limit with a 100kg person and that doesn't take into account the additional load that goes onto individual casters when the chair is moved or when a wheel swivels.

I'd certainly enjoy reading your product testing methodology, and the results of the tests you've performed to substantiate that statement.

Go and take a look at the Bunnings ones. I actually did when I purchased this chair and needed casters to protect the floor. There is a massive difference in quality between the Amazon ones and the Bunnings ones, the Bunnings ones I would never trust on a chair.

Well, I certainly consider paying 76% extra as substantial. However, if the wheels required are 60mm then the Amazon ones might be a good deal.

Good for you, it's best you stick with your KMART $20 chair and keep putting those cheap Chinese tyres on your car. Instead of some rubbish hyperbole about 76% more why don't you work it out as a percentage of the chair cost or doesn't that achieve what you want.

    • Or you can get a chair mat for hard floor at costco AUD$29.49 size 114.3x134.6 cm

      • Or you can get a chair mat for hard floor at costco AUD$29.49 size 114.3x134.6 cm

Which can damage the floor, which limits the chair on where it can move to and which are in many cases impractical so why not replace the casters.

  • Thankyou.. Just ordered a 2nd chair for my computer room..
These are the most comfortable chair I've ever used for extended gaming sessions :)
Paid $255 delivered for the chair and exercise book

  • Would this chair be good for someone who has back problems and is sitting in front of a computer all day?

    • I bought this chair for that very reason. It's designed for people who sit for 8hr workdays. Best thing for your back is going to be not sitting at all, but this doesn't make mine any worse. The seat is supportive, tilts, locks & raises to get your pelvis right, and most other things things are adjustable.

Cons are it's a bit heavy and bulky and the ribs at the back are just annoying to clean dust collectors after a short while.

    • The chair will only be an advantage if you are leaning back in it.

If your back isn't touching the backrest, then it's irrelevant what shape or cost the chair is…. you could even use a stool!

The quality of padding in the seat will certainly affect your bum, but unlikely to make any difference to your back.

  • Use cashreward for a further 5% off. I have bought 3.

    • cashrewards may not always work with coupon codes

  • This chair looks very similar to the $49 Aldi chair from a few weeks ago..

    • This one has adjustable armrest and much more stronger and sturdy than the aldi one. Adjustable armrest is very useful to make you more comfortable when you adjust based on your table level.

  • Does anyone know where I can try this in store?

    • Officeworks

      • +1

If Im not mistaken, officeworks doesnt sell this chair anymore

  • I just placed an order. On the credit card transaction page, there are 2 charges: total of the order and $1 fee. is that right?

    • yes its normal.

  • PS, for those who don't care for the adjustable arms, there is no arms version for $50 cheaper at $249

$50 cheaper? This is $255 so $6 more expensive for arms that you don't have to use if you don't want but at least you have the option.

      • +3

One with arms is $299 less $45 if you bump of purchase to $300.
I grabbed two without arms at $498, plus 2 notepads to push the order to $500.12, less $75 which was $425 or $212.5 per chair delivered.

        Cheers

For those who would be ordered one chair the difference is only $36.

          $249 minus $30 = $219 (armless)
          $300 minus $45 = $255 (arm)

    • Without armrest is $36 cheaper after discount. Not $50 cheaper.

    • Is the one without arms the same chair otherwise? The photos look quite different but I think it was just taken under different light. Hard to tell for sure.

  • Where do you put the code?

    • At the check out stage, top right corner

Thanks, seems you have to create or sign in to an account first.

  • And just ordered mine - $255 - very happy!

  • How much are these chairs normally?

  • Just bought the chair, I have a wooden floor so thinking of getting these:

    http://www.amazon.com/BB605-23-Hardwood-Smoothness-Quietness…

They are $45 including delivery, anyway to get them cheaper lol?

  • What is the good choice for 1 dollar? ;)

    • The words of a true ozbargainer

  • Bought the one without arm rests and received it today.

The seat has a rather putrid smell. I hope it dissipates with time. :(

  • Received my 3 chairs yesterday. Very solid chair. Will buy again when it is back to it's true retail price.

  • Anyone notice they changed the website from 12 hours to Suitable for up to 8 hours usage ?

  • Did anyone end up receiving the wrong chair ? Or missing parts.

I ordered the Buro Metro Task Chair With Adjustable Arms Black and received the Buro verve. Not only did i recieve the wrong chair, but the box for the wrong chair is missing parts.

Also the Buro Metro Task Chair With Adjustable Arms Black, has different casters, used to be aluminium, now its plastic. They also changed the usage rating from 12 hours to 8 hours.

    • Nope got the right one here, if you received the wrong chair I'd be calling staples to send it back?

Were the old casters aluminium? Mine are plastic but not a big deal.

  • The casters were definitely metallic. i assumed they were aluminium, the 150kg rating stayed the same, but once the casters became plastic the usage went from 12 hrs to 8. Something fishy going on here thats for sure.

yeah i called staples, now i have to wait for them to pick up their mistaken chair, and then organise another time to send out the real chair. Talk about inconvenienced. Basically everything is at their discretion. They even asked me if i just wanted to keep that chair instead of the one i actually ordered.

    • the ones from officeworks were plastic - they gave a 2nd free when the 1st was scratched but didn't need to be returned :)
