Snow Trip for Small Family Group 6 People

Used to visit the snow (Mt Hotham) as a teenager, but haven't been to the snow in 20 years. Looking to book a ski trip for 6 family members on an ozbargain budget . Any suggestions? Either a shared kitchen style accom in the snow, or just outside. Not fussed about which mountain, as long as it is a ski mountain.

  • Depends on the group - are they advanced, beginners, mixed?

Baw Baw would be good for snow play and beginner skiing if there's snow. Much cheaper than Buller.

Buller has a horrible charge of $45 just to take you from the car park to the resort when you stay overnight. 6 people = $270 even before you find accommodation.

Buller allow around $320 per day - $120 lift pass ,$50 ski hire, around $150 on mountain accommodation for the night, $50 food - not much change! It does have a good mix of runs from beginner (avoid Bourke St) to advanced.

Hotham and Falls can be cheaper depending on where you stay. Hotham has best natural snowfall. Falls is the largest resort in Vic - lots of runs.

Better option if you have time is to go to Thredbo or Perisher. Rates for four star accommodation easily found at about $60-$80 per person per night, no oversnow accommodation charges…

    • Any perisher recommendations? Cheers

      • Yeah, I'm looking for some cheap deals for Thredbo, Perisher too

  • Groupon have some pretty nice deals, I am tempted to buy the charlotte pass deal.

    • +1

It's per person deal though. So $900 for 2 nights?

  • Cheers. Most of us have ski experience. Never been to Perisher, thought it would cost a lot more, and I guess Hotham etc are just about on the border anyway. Might have to look for a fly in option? Any ideas
