Is VoIP Phone Suitable for Business

Is VOIP phone reliable enough to be used as substitute of normal phone for business use?
Could you also tell me who is your internet/phone provider.

    Used Lync (Now MS Skype for Business) at a previous office. Great, no issues.

    It depends. Good implementations of voip are suitable for business use. I've had sites with > 1000 voip handsets, carrier voip trunks, and inter-pbx voip trunks.

    My current place is using 20 optus voip channels, and ~100 voip handsets.

    The company I work for which has 35k employees (engineering firm) recently went to Skype for Business. I have only had one issue where someone couldn't hear me and I had to call them back on my mobile.. Otherwise the call quality has been fine.

    Small business perspective. My offices are in an old industrial area, and our phone lines use something called "pair gain", which means we don't even get adsl2. In the six years since we moved there I have taken my business away from Telstra, bit by bit every time they increase their charges, so we are down to 2 Telstra land lines that never get used, but kept as a yet to be used fallback. Internet provider is TPG but that's irrelevant.
    So what we have now is 8 wireless Siemens gigasets being fed by both MyNetFone and Telecube. I'm moving slowly to Telecube because the pricing is much better. We ported old business and fax numbers, plus 1300 and 1800 numbers. we get full featured Hosted PABX functionality, and Cloud Softphone installed on the mobile.
    Most importantly, I have never felt any sort of problem with IP phones.

      hasn't telecube been dead for weeks now? theres some massive thread on whingepool about it.

      • Denial of Service attack on a small business. WTF? it encourages me to move my other lines over…soon
        Could Ozbargain have this sort of thing done to their business?

    You can have both, VOIP for outgoing, landline for incoming calls. That way landline can act as backup.
